Address the compression-rotation blocker from the follow-up review of #98619:
The parent run can compress/rotate before a detached delegate completes.
The captured origin session id is then a closed parent: the delivery
append is rejected with CompressionSessionClosedError forever (the
watcher retries the same stale id), and no read surface exposes the row.
- persist_delegation_delivery now resolves the live continuation tip via
the canonical resolve_resume_session_id (the same resolution
/api/sessions/{id}/messages reads use) before appending, failing open
to the original id.
- /v1/runs adopts the resolved tip for a client-addressed session id
(body id or declared key): history loads from it, the turn and wake
binding target it, so the run no longer writes into the closed parent.
End-to-end regression: parent compresses, detached delivery persists to
the stale id, and the next same-id run loads the delivery row from the
live tip and binds it.
Breaks the two import cycles that forced Protocol stand-ins in the F821 sweep, so the two
sites now name the real types.
gateway/platforms/event.py (new leaf): MessageType, ProcessingOutcome, MessageEvent moved
out of base.py verbatim. Their only dependency is gateway.session.SessionSource; base.py
imported helpers.py at module level, so helpers could not name MessageEvent. Now
TextBatchAggregator is typed by the real MessageEvent. 249 importers repointed
(`from gateway.platforms.base import` -> `.event`, preserving each import's layout);
gateway.platforms.__init__ re-exports from .event. The three revert-scheduled PLUGIN-COMPAT
pointers that named these symbols (gateway.slash_commands → MessageType, dingtalk → MessageType,
photon → ProcessingOutcome) and their COMPAT_MANIFEST rows now target gateway.platforms.event.

tools/mcp_tool_sampling.py: ElicitationHandler no longer holds a back-reference to its
MCPServerTask (mcp_tool imports sampling, so the task type cannot be named there). It only
ever read owner._pending_call_context, so it takes `call_context: Callable[[], Context | None]`
and MCPServerTask passes `lambda: self._pending_call_context`. The consent call is one
`functools.partial`, run directly or inside the captured Context.
ty on the 11 touched production files vs origin/main: 0 new diagnostics, 14 resolved.
(The one `source: SessionSource = None` diagnostic moves with the class; typing it Optional
exposes ~60 unguarded call sites — separate follow-up.)
Tests: tests/gateway + tests/plugins + tests/tools + touched files, 18,235 passed; the 31
failures reproduce identically on origin/main (macOS /private/tmp, systemd socket,
long-path fixtures, live-service tests).
For each issue anchor present in BASE 63279301bc non-test .py and absent on HEAD, the BASE comment/docstring block was re-attached at the HEAD location of the code it explained (matched by the distinctive code line / enclosing def). Sentences already covered by an existing HEAD comment were deduped; the issue number always survives. Insert-only: no code lines changed.
On the stateless api_server platform, a background delegate_task
completion was delivered by self-POSTing /v1/chat/completions with
role=user after the parent turn had already completed (event.complete,
finish_reason=stop). That starts an unauthorized new agent turn the
client never sent, persists the completion as an ordinary role=user row
(display_kind NULL), and can blow through a pending human-confirmation
gate — the exact skip-ahead reported in #85957.
Fix: async_delegation completions targeting a non-push api_server
session are now written into the session transcript as a durable
DELIVERY row (role=user + display_kind=async_delegation_complete +
display metadata — the same bookkeeping shape the TUI/desktop delivery
path persists). No agent turn runs; clients polling
GET /api/sessions/{id}/messages see the result immediately, and the
next real client turn carries it as context. Persist failures return
False so the durable claim is released and the completion retried.
Watch-pattern notifications keep the existing self-post wake behavior;
push-capable adapters are untouched.
Fixes#85957
Wake-ups for kanban notifications and background delegation completions were
injected via handle_message() using a build_session_key()-derived key, which
can never match the raw X-Hermes-Session-Id key that api_server sessions run
under — so the wake landed in a session nobody was reading. On top of that,
ApiServerAdapter.send() reports failure without raising, and that was treated
as a successful delivery, so the notify cursor advanced past events that were
permanently lost; and background delegation was forced synchronous on
api_server since there was no way to wake the session afterward.
Fix: route wake-ups for non-push adapters through a self-post to
/v1/chat/completions with the original session id, treat non-raising send
failures as failures (rewind instead of advancing the cursor), and re-enable
background delegation whenever a session id is available to wake.
The origin session id is captured from the request-scoped api_server chat_id
binding rather than HERMES_SESSION_ID: constructing a child agent calls
set_current_session_id() with the subagent's internal id, clobbering that
variable right before dispatch would read it and misrouting the wake into
the subagent's own session.
