WeComAdapter mixed in OwnAccessPolicyMixin without ALLOW_ALL_ENV_PREFIX, so
_allow_all_env_names() read "_ALLOW_ALL_USERS" and every open-DM WeCom deployment
(setup still writes WECOM_ALLOW_ALL_USERS) silently denied all DMs.
- WeComAdapter.ALLOW_ALL_ENV_PREFIX = "WECOM"
- OwnAccessPolicyMixin.__init_subclass__ raises TypeError on an empty prefix so the
omission cannot ship again (every other host already sets one).
- Parity test now runs a third matrix row that sets each host's own
<PREFIX>_ALLOW_ALL_USERS; the GATEWAY-only row is why this slipped through.
Sabotage: prefix removed -> [platform] row fails even with the guard reverted.
Scoped secrets — `gateway.platforms._shared.get_scoped_secret` is the single implementation of
the "scope authoritative, unscoped default-profile falls back to os.environ" read:
- plugins/platforms/buzz/adapter.py::_get_scoped_secret (113 LOC, ~100 of which were one
docstring paragraph pasted 16x) -> 3-line forwarder over the canonical with
`external_fallback=True`. Its one genuine extra rung (one-shot profile-scope build so a
Bitwarden-managed key is visible to the startup gate, #95216) moves into `_shared` as that
keyword plus `_unscoped_profile_secrets`.
- weixin::_wx_secret, matrix::_startup_env_secret, the inline try/except copies in slack
(SLACK_APP_TOKEN) and telegram (TELEGRAM_WEBHOOK_SECRET/_URL) -> canonical.
- The "extra-first, then scoped env" reader written 11x under 6 names (weixin._extra_or_env,
bluebubbles/ntfy/photon/wecom `_setting`, dingtalk `_extra_get`, mattermost `_extra_or_env`,
slack `_extra_or_env_flag/_channel_set`, feishu closures) -> `_shared.extra_or_secret`.
- `authz_mixin._platform_gate_env` -> `_shared.platform_gate_env`; discord/telegram drop their
`_scoped_gate_env` twins; run.py / run_config_loaders.py / slack import it directly.
Boilerplate — three table-driven helpers in `_shared` replace the pasted docs template:
- `seed_extra_from_env(spec, home_env=)` replaces 8 `_env_enablement` bodies (buzz, google_chat,
irc, line, ntfy, photon, simplex, teams; raft is a one-liner and untouched).
- `apply_yaml_bridge(cfg, spec)` replaces 7 `_apply_yaml_config` bodies (buzz, dingtalk, feishu,
matrix, mattermost, slack, whatsapp); discord/telegram keep bespoke bridges (alias keys,
nested `platforms.*.extra`, generic-key exclusions). buzz and mattermost previously bypassed
`yaml_env_setter` with hand-rolled `os.environ` writes.
- `env_is_connected(*vars)` replaces 5 identical `_is_connected` (discord, homeassistant,
mattermost, slack, sms).
- 8 identity `_build_adapter` wrappers deleted; `adapter_factory=<Class>`.
Behavior change:
- buzz `_apply_yaml_config` returned None, so under multiplex a secondary Buzz profile got
neither env (correctly skipped) nor `extra` for relay_url/channels/allow_all_users/...; it now
seeds `extra` like every other hook. It also wrote reply_in_thread/reply_to_mode to the process
env even inside a secondary profile's scope (first-writer-wins leak, #80099 class); it no longer
does. BUZZ_POLL_INTERVAL is bridged through the same table.
- `home_channel.name` default when `<X>_HOME_CHANNEL_NAME` is unset is now the literal "Home" for
all plugins (irc/ntfy/buzz used the chat id; simplex/teams/photon/google_chat already used
"Home", as do the built-in platforms in gateway/config_env.py).
- weixin's non-secret tunables (send_chunk_*, rate_limit_circuit_*) now read through the scoped
reader instead of raw os.getenv — a secondary profile no longer inherits the default's values.
- `extra_or_secret` treats a blank string in extra as unset (falls to env) and an explicit False
as a real value, the strictest of the merged copies.
- slack `reaction_trigger_target` bridges via str(); `reaction_triggers` comma-joins any list-ish
value (was list/tuple/set only) — same env text for every real YAML shape.
Docs: website/docs/developer-guide/adding-platform-adapters.md (the template the copies were
pasted from) and gateway/platforms/ADDING_A_PLATFORM.md now show the helpers and the scoped
reader; gateway/AGENTS.md points at the one implementation.
Tests: tests/gateway/test_shared_platform_boilerplate.py — every plugin `_env_enablement`
reads only through the scoped getter (parametrized over the 8 plugins, spy on the seam, raw
`os.getenv`/`get_env_value` asserted untouched); buzz bridge seeds `extra` for a secondary
profile and still bridges env for the default; one home-name rule; extra_or_secret contract;
external_fallback rung. Existing tests repointed: tests/agent/test_secret_scope_tier1_migration.py,
tests/plugins/platforms/buzz/test_buzz_unscoped_requirement_gate.py.
Fourteen platform plugins hand-rolled the "already configured? Reconfigure? [y/N]"
gate at the top of interactive_setup (env check + info line + prompt_yes_no(..., False)),
with drifting wording ("X: already configured" vs "X is already configured." vs
"already enabled") and, for LINE and SimpleX, raw input() loops with their own
EOF/KeyboardInterrupt handling and no gate at all. Fixes to the gate (non-interactive
handling, wording, default) therefore reached only the core Telegram/BlueBubbles/webhook
wizards.
- hermes_cli/setup_platforms.py: `_declines_reconfigure` becomes the public
`declines_reconfigure(label, question, *env_vars)` (any-of env check, so Matrix's
token-or-password gate fits); `_save_prompted` becomes `save_prompted` alongside it.
No alias kept; the three core callers are updated.
- buzz, dingtalk, discord, feishu, google_chat, irc, matrix, mattermost, raft, slack,
teams, wecom: the hand-rolled gate is replaced by one `declines_reconfigure(...)` call;
post-decline extras (Discord allowlist nudge, Slack manifest refresh, Raft "Keeping"
line) stay local and unchanged.
- line, simplex: the raw input() loops move onto hermes_cli.cli_output.prompt (masked
for secrets, "" on Ctrl-C/EOF) and gain the shared gate on their primary env var.
Behavior change: the gate's info line is now uniformly "<Label>: already configured"
(DingTalk/Feishu/WeCom lose the trailing period + inline ID; Buzz/IRC/Google Chat/Raft/
Teams no longer echo the current value in that line). Feishu and WeCom now gate on the
app/bot ID alone instead of ID AND secret. LINE and SimpleX gain a "Reconfigure?" [y/N]
prompt when already configured; their prompts now honour HERMES_NONINTERACTIVE and print
via the CLI helpers instead of bare print(). Prompt defaults (No) are unchanged everywhere.
Not touched: WhatsApp's gate keys on WHATSAPP_ENABLED being truthy (a "false" value must
not count as configured), which the shared any-set gate cannot express — left hand-rolled.
Test: tests/plugins/platforms/test_interactive_setup_reconfigure_gate.py parametrized over
the 14 wizards — with the primary env var set and the user declining, each wizard must have
called declines_reconfigure with that var and returned without prompting or saving.
Sabotage: reverting mattermost's gate fails that row.
Six adapters defined their own `_cancel_task` and nine more inlined the same
cancel + suppress(CancelledError) + await block; five kept a hand-rolled TTL-dict
`_is_duplicate` next to the existing `helpers.MessageDeduplicator`; three carried a
`_bounded_put`. Each copy fixed the same bugs on its own schedule (self-cancel deadlock,
done-task re-await, eviction under load).
- `helpers.cancel_task`: None/done no-op, never awaits the current task, swallows the
task's own exception at teardown. Replaces qqbot/signal/yuanbao/buzz/photon/simplex
definitions and the inline copies in weixin, discord, email, irc, line, mattermost,
whatsapp and telegram.
- `helpers.MessageDeduplicator` replaces `_is_duplicate` in qqbot, ntfy, photon,
wecom_callback and LINE's `_MessageDeduplicator`; every site keeps its own
max_size/TTL (qqbot and ntfy 1000/300s, photon 4000/48h, wecom_callback 2000/300s,
LINE 1000/no TTL).
- `helpers.bounded_put` replaces photon/wecom/whatsapp_cloud copies; a re-put now
refreshes the key to the newest slot at every site.
- telegram gmail-triage scripts resolve under `get_hermes_home()` instead of a hard
`~/.hermes`, so profiles with HERMES_HOME set find them.
Not changed: `get_chat_info` stays `@abstractmethod` because
tests/gateway/test_relay_capability_surface.py locks the abstract set to exactly
{connect, disconnect, send, get_chat_info} as a cross-repo contract, so the ~17 no-op
overrides remain.
Behavior change: whatsapp_cloud `_bounded_put` was a pure FIFO (no refresh on re-put);
it now refreshes like the other two sites. Task cancellation at the migrated sites
swallows a task's terminal exception where a few copies previously only suppressed
CancelledError (all are shutdown/disconnect paths).
Weixin, WeCom, QQBot, WhatsApp (common + cloud) and Yuanbao's AccessPolicy each carried
their own `_open_dm_opted_in` / `_is_dm_allowed` / `_is_dm_intake_allowed` /
`_is_group_allowed`, differing only in the platform prefix of the allow-all env var and in
small drifts. The same "allow-all must be scoped / fail closed" fix has landed on this trio
at least four times; a shared rule means it lands once.
gateway/platforms/access_policy_mixin.py::OwnAccessPolicyMixin owns the predicates,
reads every env name through the scoped `get_scoped_secret` and exposes two hooks:
`_entry_matches` (platform allowlist matching) and `_live_dm_allow_from` (env-seeded
lists re-read live). `ALLOW_ALL_ENV_PREFIX` is the only per-adapter datum.
Retained overrides (behavior genuinely differs):
- whatsapp_cloud `_allow_all_env_names` adds WHATSAPP_CLOUD_ALLOW_ALL_USERS;
`_is_dm_allowed` keeps its bare-wa_id normalisation.
- whatsapp_common `_entry_matches` -> phone/LID alias matching; `_live_dm_allow_from`.
- wecom `_is_group_allowed(chat_id, sender_id)` adds the per-group sender allowlist on
top of the shared chat-level rule; `_entry_matches` strips `wecom:user:` prefixes.
- qqbot `_entry_matches` (case-insensitive, `*`).
- yuanbao `AccessPolicy.is_group_allowed`: `open` groups still require the allow-all
opt-in (no runner-side mention gate), so it wraps the shared rule.
Behavior change: Weixin `_is_dm_intake_allowed` now denies a blank/whitespace principal
(the other four already did; safe variant chosen). Weixin's inline group gate now goes
through `_is_group_allowed` with identical verdicts.
20 `plugins/platforms/*/adapter.py::_standalone_send` paths (the out-of-process cron /
send_message delivery) built `{"error": f"... {e}"}` by hand — 83 literals. The exception text
of an httpx/aiohttp failure can carry the Authorization header, a signed URL or a response body
with the token in it, and that string became the tool result the model reads. Only sms went
through the redacting `tools.send_message_senders._error`; discord kept a private regex that
only knew `Authorization: Bot`.
`gateway.platforms._shared.send_error(message)` wraps that helper (agent.redact +
URL-secret scrub) and every standalone literal now goes through it, including the three
envelopes that carry extra keys (discord warnings, photon error_class/retryable, whatsapp's
`(None, err)` tuple). The sms and discord local wrappers are deleted. Telegram already
delegated to the core sender and is untouched.
Behavior change (security): vendor exception text in standalone-send failures is redacted
before reaching the model.
Eight adapters (discord, telegram, wecom, matrix, whatsapp, simplex, feishu, weixin) each kept a
copy of the delayed text-batch flush that base._enqueue_text_event schedules. Two correctness
fixes had landed in single copies only: Discord's asyncio.shield around the dispatch (#12444 —
a late chunk cancelling the flush task aborted the in-flight agent turn) and WeCom/Weixin's
synchronous task-identity check before the pop (a superseded task waking late popped the event
and the successor found nothing). The other adapters carried both bugs latent.
The base now owns `_flush_text_batch` with both fixes, plus the `_pending_text_batches` /
`_pending_text_batch_tasks` dicts and `_SPLIT_THRESHOLD` / delay attrs (defaults; adapters set
their own). Platform policy goes through three small hooks instead of a copied body:
`_text_batch_delay_for(pending)` (Telegram's fast/short tiers, WeCom's attachment-only wait),
`_pop_text_batch(key)` (Feishu's side count table) and `_dispatch_text_batch(event)` (Feishu's
per-chat lock). Telegram keeps its `_flush_buffered` body because its contract differs on
purpose — a cancel after the pop must hold-and-re-raise so teardown can stop a flush — and gains
the identity check there. Matrix's `_split_threshold` is renamed to the shared `_SPLIT_THRESHOLD`;
SimpleX exposes its single delay through the shared attr names.
`helpers.TextBatchAggregator` (zero users) sits inside the revert-scheduled PLUGIN-COMPAT block
and is left for that revert.
Same bug class as the Slack/Feishu picks: buzz, dingtalk, email, google_chat,
line, ntfy, photon, sms, teams, wecom and whatsapp already had the platform
message id on the MessageEvent but built the SessionSource without it, so
source.message_id consumers (reply anchor in run.py, /sethome synthetic-thread
check, relay _event_ids fallback, shutdown notice anchor) saw None. Only sites
where the id variable was already in scope are widened.
Review findings on #109139 (the "aeskey half is already on main" claim was
wrong): `_decrypt_file_bytes` restored base64 padding but the key was never
percent-decoded, so `%2F`/`%3D` keys failed to decrypt and `_cache_media`
returned None. And `_store_media` received the CDN's `application/octet-stream`
as the image MIME, which the gateway image classifier rejects even with the
corrected `.png` name.
Decode the key once at the payload boundary; for images forward the response
MIME only when it is `image/*`, otherwise derive it from the resolved
extension. Covered by one end-to-end test through `_cache_media` (red on the
previous head).
WeCom's CDN returns `content-type: application/octet-stream` for images.
`mimetypes.guess_extension` maps that to ".bin", a truthy value that
short-circuited `_guess_extension()` before the magic-byte detector ran, so
every inbound image was cached as `img_*.bin`.
Treat ".bin" as "unknown" so the URL suffix / magic-byte fallback decides.
The second half of the report (URL-encoded, unpadded `aeskey`) is already
handled on main by `_decrypt_file_bytes`.
Salvage of PR #10187 by @nightq onto `plugins/platforms/wecom/media.py`.
Fixes#10085
#108952 taught sms/line/teams/bluebubbles/whatsapp_cloud/msgraph_webhook/feishu/wecom-callback to
serve a secondary at /p/<profile>/ on the default listener; #108928's preflight derives its
port-binder blocker from the adapter class's serves_profile_prefix flag, which those adapters never
set. Merged together, migrate would have blocked every profile the ingress work just unblocked.
Declare the flag on each shared-ingress adapter and run plugin discovery before consulting the
registry (plugin adapters are absent from a bare CLI process otherwise).
sms, line, teams, bluebubbles, msgraph_webhook, whatsapp_cloud, wecom_callback and
feishu (webhook mode) build their aiohttp app exactly as before and hand it to
bind_listener(): standalone and default-profile behaviour is unchanged (same host,
port, reuse_address, access_log), while a multiplex secondary publishes the app for
/p/<profile>/ forwarding instead of binding. BlueBubbles registers the /p/<profile>/
URL with its server; LINE builds media URLs off the shared listener's prefix when no
LINE_PUBLIC_URL is set; WeCom skips its own port-in-use probe in shared mode.
Under gateway.multiplex_profiles a turn running for a secondary profile P resolved
its live adapter by bare platform from runner.adapters — the DEFAULT profile's map —
so P's send_message tool calls (send/react/media on slack, matrix, wecom, buzz, ntfy,
every plugin platform), its "Gateway shutting down/restarted" and /update notices,
its /loop wakeups, and its Discord bot's unauthorized-slash operator alert all left
through the default bot (Telegram DMs landed in the user's chat with the other bot).
Every such door now resolves through the profile-aware, fail-closed resolver already
used by the inbound reply path (authz_mixin: _adapters_for_profile /
_authorization_adapter / _adapter_for_source): P's own adapter, or None → a clear
error, never the default bot.
- tools/send_message_senders.py::_live_adapter — resolve via
runner._authorization_adapter(platform, get_active_profile_name()); shared by
_send_via_adapter, _handle_react/unreact, media sends, matrix E2EE fast path and
the WeCom standalone sender.
- gateway/authz_mixin.py — extract _adapters_for_profile (the whole map, for relay-
aware resolve_delivery_transport callers); _authorization_adapter reuses it.
- gateway/run_shutdown.py — shutdown/restart notice for a running session uses the
session's source transport / agent:<profile>: key lane, never self.adapters.
- gateway/slash_commands.py + run_notifications.py — /restart and /update markers
persist `profile`; the restart notice, update result and update prompt resolve the
requester's own adapter (legacy markers fall back to the session_key lane).
/goal, /heartbeat, /approve, /deny confirmations use the source's own transport.
- gateway/slash_commands_goals.py + run_goals.py — /loop persists `profile` in its
route; the wakeup watcher scans every served profile's store under its own scope
(same shape as _handoff_watcher) and fires through that profile's adapter map.
- plugins/platforms/discord/adapter.py::_notify_unauthorized_slash — alert stays in
the owning profile (its adapters and its home channels).
- plugins/platforms/wecom/adapter.py::_standalone_send — via _live_adapter.
- docs: website/docs/user-guide/multi-profile-gateways.md (outbound identity).
Tests (red on base): tests/tools/test_send_message_multiplex_profile_adapter.py,
tests/gateway/test_multiplex_notice_egress_profile_adapter.py.

Breaks the two import cycles that forced Protocol stand-ins in the F821 sweep, so the two
sites now name the real types.
gateway/platforms/event.py (new leaf): MessageType, ProcessingOutcome, MessageEvent moved
out of base.py verbatim. Their only dependency is gateway.session.SessionSource; base.py
imported helpers.py at module level, so helpers could not name MessageEvent. Now
TextBatchAggregator is typed by the real MessageEvent. 249 importers repointed
(`from gateway.platforms.base import` -> `.event`, preserving each import's layout);
gateway.platforms.__init__ re-exports from .event. The three revert-scheduled PLUGIN-COMPAT
pointers that named these symbols (gateway.slash_commands → MessageType, dingtalk → MessageType,
photon → ProcessingOutcome) and their COMPAT_MANIFEST rows now target gateway.platforms.event.
Docs updated: ADDING_A_PLATFORM.md, adding-platform-adapters.md (en + zh-Hans).
tools/mcp_tool_sampling.py: ElicitationHandler no longer holds a back-reference to its
MCPServerTask (mcp_tool imports sampling, so the task type cannot be named there). It only
ever read owner._pending_call_context, so it takes `call_context: Callable[[], Context | None]`
and MCPServerTask passes `lambda: self._pending_call_context`. The consent call is one
`functools.partial`, run directly or inside the captured Context.
ty on the 11 touched production files vs origin/main: 0 new diagnostics, 14 resolved.
(The one `source: SessionSource = None` diagnostic moves with the class; typing it Optional
exposes ~60 unguarded call sites — separate follow-up.)
Tests: tests/gateway + tests/plugins + tests/tools + touched files, 18,235 passed; the 31
failures reproduce identically on origin/main (macOS /private/tmp, systemd socket,
long-path fixtures, live-service tests).
Every PLUGIN-COMPAT __getattr__ now calls hermes_cli.plugin_compat.warn_once(facade, name, target) before
resolving, emitting a HermesPluginCompatWarning (FutureWarning) once per process per name: old path, new
path, removal target. Importing a facade for its live API stays silent; only resolving a moved name warns.
COMPAT_MANIFEST.md documents the warning and how to silence it during migration.
Verified the runtime never routes through a pointer: every entry point (run_agent, cli, hermes_cli.main,
gateway.run, tui_gateway.server, web_server, model_tools + tool discovery, hermes_state, cron.scheduler,
browser_tool, mcp_tool, kanban, auth) imports clean and `hermes doctor` runs end to end with the warning
promoted to an error.
Also restores the check_compat_pointers CI step to .github/workflows/lint.yml, which a0be177aac dropped
when the compat layer was regenerated (the lint script itself was present; the workflow step was not).
hermes_cli/plugin_compat.py, tests/test_plugin_compat_warning.py and the two-line insert per facade are
part of the compat layer and go away with it.
The Sep 2026 decomposition (PR #102117) makes internal import paths a non-API: names now live in
the focused modules that define them. This commit is the ONLY thing keeping the old paths alive,
so external plugins have time to update. It is deliberately a single, unsquashed commit:
git revert <this sha>
removes every shim, stub and manifest at once on the announced date. Nothing in-tree may depend on
these pointers: scripts/check_compat_pointers.py (wired into lint.yml) fails CI if it does.
What it adds (see COMPAT_MANIFEST.md, compat_manifest.json):
- 332 facade modules get one delimited `PLUGIN-COMPAT` block appended at the end of the file
- 1,172 moved names resolved lazily via a module `__getattr__` (PEP 562) — never a top-level import,
so no import cycles; facades that already had `__getattr__` get a chained one
- 592 third-party/stdlib names the old modules used to expose, with their original import statements
- 266 public definitions that had been deleted as unused, restored byte-for-byte from the pre-decomposition
tree (+40 private helpers and 16 imports pulled in only because a restored definition needs them)
- 3 deleted modules recreated as re-export stubs (gateway/startup_watchdog, hermes_cli/observability/
relay_runtime, tools/environments/modal_utils)
- private names (`_x`) get no pointer: they were never API (3,792 skipped)
Verified: all 335 touched modules import under a fresh HERMES_HOME and every manifest name resolves;
the lint reports zero in-tree uses; ruff clean; targeted suites unchanged.
dingtalk: drop DINGTALK_TYPE_MAPPING/EXT_MAP re-exports. google_chat: card_spec_to_cards_v2 test -> .cards.
matrix: drop module-level MAX_MESSAGE_LENGTH alias (no importers). teams: drop TeamsSummaryWriter re-export
(teams_pipeline/runtime + tests -> summary_writer). wecom: drop WeComStreamExpiredError/STREAM_EXPIRED_ERRCODE/
MAX_INTERMEDIATE_FRAMES re-exports (tests -> .streaming). parallel: drop _get_parallel_client/_get_async_parallel_client
aliases (tests -> _get_sync_client). email: drop stale 'alias' comment (_esecret_int is the only name).
photon: re-remove credential_summary() (shim-only, cb9b7c36f3); its no-leak test now drives print_credential_summary.
For each issue anchor present in BASE 63279301bc non-test .py and absent on HEAD, the BASE comment/docstring block was re-attached at the HEAD location of the code it explained (matched by the distinctive code line / enclosing def). Sentences already covered by an existing HEAD comment were deduped; the issue number always survives. Insert-only: no code lines changed.
Same class as #100627's WECOM_BOT_ID: the one remaining raw os.getenv in
WeComAdapter.__init__ let a secondary multiplex profile pick up the
default profile's bridged websocket URL. Route it through
_get_scoped_secret; folded into the existing scoped-miss test.
WeComAdapter.__init__ read WECOM_BOT_ID via a raw os.getenv() call, while
the immediately adjacent line for WECOM_SECRET already used the module's
_get_scoped_secret() helper. Under gateway.multiplex_profiles, a secondary
profile's adapter is constructed inside a scoped context where os.environ
still holds the DEFAULT profile's env-bridge output -- so a secondary
profile's bot would silently connect using the default profile's bot_id
while (correctly) using its own secret, or vice versa on a scope miss.
Switch the bot_id read to _get_scoped_secret(), matching the sibling
_secret/_dm_policy/_group_policy/allow_from reads in the same __init__
that were already migrated in #76664/#93545. _standalone_send's
out-of-process fallback branch constructs a fresh WeComAdapter(pconfig)
and therefore inherits this fix automatically -- no separate change
needed there.
Adds two regression tests to the existing TestWeComAdapterAuthzScope
class (already covering dm_policy/allow_from scoping per #93522),
mirroring its established fixture/assertion style. Mutation-verified:
both fail against the pre-fix code (asserting the default profile's
bot_id leaks into a secondary profile's scope) and pass with the fix.
Every gateway/plugin platform adapter hard-coded aiohttp.ClientSession(trust_env=True)
(~20 sites), so a gateway launched by a Windows Scheduled Task that inherits a stale
HTTP_PROXY (Clash/V2Ray on 127.0.0.1:7890) looped on 'Cannot connect to host' with no
way to opt out short of NO_PROXY hacks per vendor host.
- gateway/platforms/base.py: gateway_trust_env() reads gateway.trust_env (default true);
resolve_proxy_url() skips generic HTTP(S)_PROXY/ALL_PROXY + macOS system-proxy
auto-detect when false (explicit per-platform vars still win).
- All aiohttp ClientSession sites in weixin, qqbot, matrix, line, wecom, slack, sms,
teams, google_chat now pass trust_env=gateway_trust_env(); mattermost + homeassistant
bare sessions gain the same kwarg (intent of #70119 / #56229).
- DEFAULT_CONFIG + cli-config.yaml.example + messaging docs.
- tests/gateway/test_gateway_trust_env.py: config flip + no-bare-literal sweep.

ctx.register_platform_handler(platform, factory) — the generic surface for
plugins to wire native handlers into any platform adapter at connect()
time. Factories receive (native, adapter): the platform's client/app
object (PTB Application, discord.py Bot, slack_bolt AsyncApp, Teams App,
DingTalkStreamClient, aiohttp web.Application) or None for adapters with
no separate native object.
- BasePlatformAdapter._wire_plugin_handlers(native): shared, isolated
invocation helper — a raising plugin cannot block a platform connect.
- All 27 connectable adapters call it: telegram/slack/teams/line/
api_server/msgraph_webhook wire before their dispatch tables freeze;
the rest hook at connect success.
- register_telegram_handler and get_telegram_handler_factories retained
as thin back-compat aliases over the telegram bucket.
- Source-invariant test guarantees every adapter with connect() keeps
calling the hook.
Fixes two related native-streaming bubble defects surfaced in production:
1. Duplicate bubble on long turns — when keep-alive already refreshed the
6-min reply window, the Layer-2 clock fallback still declined the finalize
frame and forced a proactive send(), duplicating the message. Skip the
clock fallback while keep-alive is active; intermediate-frame failures are
now fully fire-and-forget (only a failed FINAL frame falls back to send()).
2. Split / mini bubbles ('Cla' + 'ude ...') — two compounding root causes:
a) In native streaming a mid-turn commentary (e.g. a Hindsight recall
notice) called _reset_segment_state(), clearing the cumulative
_accumulated so the next delta + finalize frame carried only the few
chars accumulated after the reset. Native streaming now skips that
reset (commentary still posts as its own message via send()).
b) The adapter-side _BlockChunker.update() 'only grow' guard silently
dropped any cumulative snapshot shorter than its high-water mark, so
after a baseline reset the leading characters were stranded before
_emitted_len. Removed the _BlockChunker sentence-alignment + idle-flush
layer entirely; intermediate frames are pure identity-dedup, matching
the fire-and-forget model.
Also removes ~232 lines of now-dead code (_BlockChunker class, idle-flush
machinery, block-stream constants) and aligns the test suite with the
fire-and-forget frame model, including a regression test that locks the
native-commentary-no-reset behavior.
Tests: 177 passed, 3 skipped (wecom + stream_consumer suites).
Implement native reply streaming for the WeCom (企业微信) adapter over the
long-connection "msgtype: stream" transport, so a reply renders as a single
live-updating typing bubble instead of one final block. Aligns with the
official wecom-openclaw-plugin streaming behavior.
Includes the machinery intrinsic to native streaming on WeCom:
- Transport: seed frame (<think></think>) opens the typing bubble, intermediate
frames update it, a finalize frame closes it; native-streaming adapters are
let past the edit-only gate. Fire-and-forget intermediate frames (WeCom
long-connection mode has no documented edit-rate limit); an adapter-level
frame cap is retained. (Early builds gated frames behind a char throttle;
removed in favor of fire-and-forget + identity dedup.)
- Per-turn isolation: each turn owns a unique turn_id; concurrent messages are
isolated via (chat_id, turn_id)-keyed state. Dual-lane priority queue
(control vs normal) plus a per-chat token bucket to stay under WeCom's rate
limit (errcode 846607).
- Dedup-safe delivery + ack-race handling: deliver-once contract (a frame is
delivered the moment it is emitted; failures logged, not re-sent; delivery
marked once per turn), per-req_id reply queue with ack tracking, and the
timeout-inversion / orphan-queue race fixes. Robust fallback on 846608 /
846609 / errcode 6000 / passive-reply timeout via proactive send.
- Interaction boundaries: finalize + reset before approval/clarify prompts so
the prompt is the last thing on screen and never traps a lingering bubble;
eager re-seed after a clarify answer so the typing bubble reappears instantly.
- Stream-level keepalive: optional periodic finish=false frame + finalize-time
stream-age guard to refresh WeCom's ~6-minute reply-stream window on long
turns (mitigates 846604 / 846608). Off by default; tunable via config.yaml.
- Tool-progress folded into the same native-stream bubble instead of separate
messages; image+text double-callback merged into one turn.
Tests cover the streaming lifecycle, per-turn isolation, duplicate-send / ack
timing, approval + clarify boundaries, eager re-seed, and tool-progress.
Under gateway.multiplex_profiles, secondary profiles are constructed
inside _profile_runtime_scope and their .env lives in the profile's
secret scope - gateway/run.py explicitly does NOT mutate os.environ with
it. Four adapters still read their AUTHORIZATION config via raw
os.getenv, so every secondary profile either (a) silently missed its own
env-only allowlists/policies (fail-closed: all DMs dropped at intake) or
(b) inherited the default profile's GATEWAY_ALLOW_ALL_USERS=true /
allowlists from the shared process env (fail-open admissions):
- weixin.py: WEIXIN_DM_POLICY / WEIXIN_ALLOWED_USERS /
WEIXIN_GROUP_ALLOWED_USERS / WEIXIN_ALLOW_ALL_USERS +
GATEWAY_ALLOW_ALL_USERS in _open_dm_opted_in
- yuanbao.py: YUANBAO_DM_POLICY / DM_ALLOW_FROM / GROUP_POLICY /
GROUP_ALLOW_FROM / ALLOW_ALL_USERS (new _yb_secret helper; AccessPolicy
hard-gates intake)
- signal.py: SIGNAL_GROUP_ALLOWED_USERS / SIGNAL_ALLOWED_USERS (new
_sig_secret helper; empty scoped group list previously meant "drop all
groups" silently)
- wecom/adapter.py: WECOM_DM_POLICY / WECOM_ALLOWED_USERS /
WECOM_GROUP_POLICY / WECOM_ALLOW_ALL_USERS + GATEWAY_ALLOW_ALL_USERS -
while credentials one line above already used _get_scoped_secret
- gateway/run.py::_own_policy_open_startup_violation: the open-policy
startup guard validated GATEWAY_ALLOW_ALL_USERS via raw os.getenv even
though its sibling dm/group reads already used the scoped _getenv
All reads now go through the canonical fail-closed scoped shape QQ's
_resolve_qq_secret already used (scope hit wins; unscoped single-profile
callers keep legacy os.environ behavior). Regression suite drives the
real scope contextvar across all four helpers plus the admission gates
and the startup guard, asserting both directions: profile values are
visible under multiplex, default-profile values never leak.
Fixes#93522
WEIXIN_DM_POLICY/ALLOWED_USERS/GROUP_ALLOWED_USERS, YUANBAO's equivalents,
WECOM_DM_POLICY/ALLOWED_USERS/GROUP_POLICY, and the startup guard's
GATEWAY_ALLOW_ALL_USERS check still read raw os.getenv at adapter
construction time. Under gateway.multiplex_profiles that reads the process
env instead of the per-profile secret scope, so a secondary profile either
silently drops every DM (its own env-only allowlist is invisible) or
inherits the default profile's allow-all/allowlist config.
Route these reads through the existing scoped helpers (_wx_secret,
_get_scoped_secret, gateway.authz_mixin._platform_gate_env, and
gateway.config._getenv) already used for the adjacent credential reads in
the same adapters.
Fixes#93522.
Adapter ingress derives a session key BEFORE the runner stamps
source.profile in _make_profile_message_handler, so the namespace fell
back to the active profile and every bot in a multiplexed gateway
produced agent:main:<platform>:<chat>. A Telegram private chat reports
the user's own id as chat.id, identical for every bot, so two profiles
sharing one human collapsed onto a single lane: _pending_text_batches,
_active_sessions, the busy-session guard and _post_delivery_callbacks are
all keyed on that string. A day of production logs across two bots shows
60 flushes, none carrying the secondary profile's namespace.
set_owner_profile records credential ownership on the adapter and
_session_key_profile resolves the namespace as source.profile ->
_owner_profile -> the session store's resolver, so a secondary adapter
keys into its own namespace even before the source is stamped. Stamped
sources keep priority, so relay/connector ingress, which routes per event
rather than per credential, is unchanged. _configure_profile_adapter
installs the owner alongside the other handlers, covering startup and
reconnect.
Every candidate is type-checked as a non-blank str, and every attribute
read goes through getattr: adapters are routinely built without
BasePlatformAdapter.__init__, and a duck-typed session store returns a
truthy non-string that would otherwise be interpolated into the key as
agent:<MagicMock ...>:.
Also routes the four call sites that passed no profile at all (feishu
media batches, raft, slack _session_key_for_source, telegram photo
batches) through the same resolver.
test_multiplex_busy_input_mode's secondary-adapter busy case seeded
_active_sessions with the unstamped agent:main: key, asserting the
pre-fix collapse. It now seeds the lane the profile-owned adapter
actually derives.
A primary adapter has no owner and an unstamped source, so it resolves
exactly as before; with multiplex_profiles off the resolver returns None
and every key is byte-identical to today's.
- matrix/dingtalk: extract deps-only installers (ensure_matrix_deps,
ensure_dingtalk_deps) and register THOSE as ensure_deps_fn — the prior
check_*_requirements combined credential env checks with the install,
so a platform configured via PlatformConfig.extra (which is_connected
accepts) would pass enablement, reach create_adapter(), and have the
'installer' veto on env-var grounds before installing anything —
re-creating the #79812 deadlock for extra-configured setups. The
combined deps+credentials functions remain for setup/status callers.
- matrix/feishu passive probes: use the existing lazy_deps.is_available()
instead of hand-rolling 'not feature_missing(...)' (reuse finding).
- teams: module docstring no longer recommends bare system pip (the
PEP 668 trap purged everywhere else); docs troubleshooting row updated
to match the new hint text.
- wecom_callback: drop dead 'global ET, DEFUSEDXML_AVAILABLE'
(ensure_and_bind mutates the module dict directly; nothing assigns).
- tests: parametrized wiring contract for all 8 lazy-installable
platforms — ensure_deps_fn present and distinct from check_fn
(behavior contract, not identity snapshot, so renames don't churn it).
PlatformEntry.check_fn served three contradictory roles: adapter-creation
gate, config auto-enablement gate, and status display. Plugins had to pick
one function for all three:
- Active installer as check_fn (discord/slack/telegram/matrix/dingtalk/
feishu): every status display could pip-install SDKs as a side effect
(the desktop 94% boot-loop class).
- Passive probe as check_fn (teams, wecom_callback): create_adapter()
returned None before connect() could lazy-install, so the SDK never
installed (#79812 deadlock; wecom_callback's platform.wecom_callback
LAZY_DEPS entry was dead code).
The split makes both call sites correct by construction:
- check_fn is now contractually PASSIVE (probe only, never installs).
- New optional PlatformEntry.ensure_deps_fn is the ACTIVE installer;
create_adapter() runs it exactly when check_fn is False — the platform
is enabled+configured and the gateway is about to connect it.
- Config enablement keeps a configured platform whose deps are missing
but installable; the install itself is deferred to create_adapter().
- Status surfaces (_platform_status, hermes status) read only the
passive probe and can never trigger pip.
Migrated all lazy-installable platform plugins to the split; platforms
with no optional deps (irc/ntfy/buzz/simplex/line/a2a/...) are unchanged
— no ensure_deps_fn means a False check_fn stays a hard block.
wecom_callback gains a working installer for the first time.
Builds on @xxxigm's #79812 (both commits cherry-picked with authorship
preserved), reworking the check_fn swap into the two-field split so the
Teams fix doesn't reintroduce install-on-status.
FEISHU_APP_SECRET/FEISHU_ENCRYPT_KEY/FEISHU_VERIFICATION_TOKEN, WECOM_SECRET,
PHOTON_PROJECT_SECRET/PHOTON_SIDECAR_TOKEN (adapter + auth.load_project_credentials)
and BUZZ_PRIVATE_KEY now read through _get_scoped_secret.
Same class of bug as the LINE adapter (NS-603): defaulting the webhook
bind to "0.0.0.0" (or hardcoding it) binds IPv4 ONLY, so the listener
is unreachable over IPv6-only private networks such as Fly.io 6PN.
- wecom callback_adapter: DEFAULT_HOST None; config.py env seed no
longer forces 0.0.0.0 when WECOM_CALLBACK_HOST is unset.
- msgraph_webhook: DEFAULT_HOST None; the allowed_source_cidrs
requirement still fires for the all-interfaces default (host=None is
treated as network-accessible).
- whatsapp_cloud: DEFAULT_WEBHOOK_HOST None.
- teams: hardcoded 0.0.0.0 TCPSite bind → _DEFAULT_HOST=None with new
TEAMS_HOST / extra.host override (mirrors LINE_HOST pattern).
- telegram: hardcoded listen="0.0.0.0" → default "" (tornado
bind_sockets opens one socket per address family; verified against
PTB 22.6/tornado) with new TELEGRAM_WEBHOOK_HOST / extra.webhook_host
override.
Explicit host overrides everywhere are preserved; empty/unset collapses
to the dual-stack default. "::" remains a bad substitute on
bindv6only=1 hosts (see LINE adapter comment).
Blank (or whitespace-only) answers to the home-channel prompt in the
interactive setup wizards previously left any previously saved
*_HOME_CHANNEL / *_HOME_ROOM env value in place, so operators could not
clear a stale home channel by re-running setup. Strip the prompt input
and call remove_env_value() on blank answers across the Discord, Slack,
Feishu, Matrix, Mattermost, WeCom and WhatsApp plugin setup wizards,
with per-adapter wizard tests covering set/clear/whitespace flows.
Squash of the three commits from PR #58421 (setup-wizard fix, matrix/
wecom extension, and 6-adapter test coverage) — one commit per
contributor on this salvage branch.
Fixes#12423
Salvaged from #58421
Several platform fetch paths called is_safe_url before constructing ordinary httpx clients, leaving a second DNS lookup at connection time. This preserved the rebinding window for Slack batch images, Feishu documents, Telegram URL-photo fallback, and WeCom remote media.
Route each path through create_ssrf_safe_async_client and the shared redirect guard so direct connections validate and dial vetted IPs while configured proxies remain an explicit trusted egress boundary. Add per-path regressions that change DNS from public at preflight to metadata at connect time.
The Skills Hub provenance fixture intentionally serves content over loopback. Opt that test-scoped server into private-address access so it keeps exercising the real HTTP transport without weakening production blocking.

Removes Homebrew and PyPI wheel/sdist as Hermes distribution paths while
preserving the supported source, Docker, and Nix workflows.
Changes:
- Removes the Homebrew formula, PyPI publish workflow, sdist manifest
(MANIFEST.in), and wheel/sdist release-attachment logic from scripts/release.py.
- Keeps setuptools metadata and entry points required by editable installs
and Docker/Nix builds, but adds a setup.py guard that rejects wheel/sdist
builds outside a sealed Nix derivation (HERMES_NIX_BUILD=1).
- Removes pip/Homebrew install detection, PyPI update checks, the pip
self-update path, the deprecation-banner state, the postinstall subcommand,
wheel data-directory fallbacks in agent/i18n.py and hermes_constants.py,
and the ACP Registry manifest/version-lockstep release logic.
- Adds /nix/store/ path detection so `nix run` / `nix profile install`
installs (which don't set HERMES_MANAGED) are correctly identified as
"nix" rather than falling through to "git"/"unknown".
- Retired install-method values ("pip", "homebrew") in existing
.install_method stamps (both code-scoped and home-scoped) are ignored by
the allowlist reader and fall through to "unknown" instead of resurrecting
a retired enum value.
- Updates Nix packaging to ship bare runtime data (locales, optional-mcps)
through store symlinks and wrapper env vars instead of wheel data-files.
- Removes the ACP Registry manifest/icon and their version-lockstep tests.
- Deletes or rewrites packaging, pip-update, Homebrew, and ACP Registry
tests; adds parametrized coverage for the packaging build guard covering
BOTH sdist and wheel paths (the guards live in separate cmdclass entries
— a passing sdist test proves nothing about the wheel path).
- Updates installation/platform documentation and related user-facing copy.
- Adjusts the supply-chain scan so deleted install-hook files do not trigger
a finding, while additions or modifications still require the existing
ci-reviewed label gate.
Supported installation paths (unchanged):
- git installer (install.sh)
- Docker
- Nix/NixOS
- editable development installs (uv sync, uv pip install -e ., pip install -e .)
Follow-ups on the salvaged #20096 profile-routing feature:
- _profile_name_for_source now returns None unless gateway.multiplex_profiles
is on. Routing stamps source.profile, which namespaces session/batch keys,
but the profile-scoped agent run only activates under multiplexing — without
the gate, configured routes with multiplexing off split batch/session keys
into agent:<profile> while the agent still ran from agent:main.
- Widen the profile-aware _text_batch_key fix from Discord to every adapter
that builds batch keys via build_session_key (telegram, whatsapp, matrix,
feishu, wecom, weixin) — routing is platform-generic, so the batch-key
namespace fix must be too.
- Downgrade the no-route-matched log from INFO to DEBUG (fired on every
unrouted inbound message).
- GatewayConfig.to_dict(): serialize profile_routes as plain dicts
(ProfileRoute dataclasses are not JSON-safe).
- Docs: correct the 'independent of multiplexing' claim in
docs/profile-routing.md (routing requires multiplexing), fix the
platform-only specificity row (0, not 1), and document profile_routes in
website/docs/user-guide/multi-profile-gateways.md.
- Tests: pin the multiplex gate (routes ignored when off, active when on,
build_source end-to-end stays in agent:main when off).
The gateway reconnect watcher forwards is_reconnect=True to every
adapter.connect() call on every retry. Adapters whose signature omits
the kwarg raise TypeError at every reconnect attempt and stay silently
disconnected — the exact bug that shipped for QQAdapter and only
surfaced after messages stopped flowing on the QQ channel for hours.
This test statically parses every adapter.py under gateway/platforms/
and plugins/platforms/ (via AST, so third-party SDKs like slack_sdk,
matrix-nio, aiohttp, telegram, etc. are NOT required in the test env)
and asserts every *Adapter class with an async connect() accepts
is_reconnect — either as a keyword-only argument or absorbed by
**kwargs.
Also fixes plugins/platforms/wecom/callback_adapter.py:WecomCallbackAdapter,
which the new test caught as a second offender. Same class of bug: bare
'async def connect(self)' signature would die on the first reconnect.
Companion to #59429 (which fixed the original QQAdapter offender).
Aligns runtime behaviour with SECURITY.md 2.6: externally reachable
messaging adapters must fail closed unless access is explicitly
configured. Closes the confirmed multiplex authorization bypass a
secondary profile's open dm/group policy no longer inherits the default
profile's allowlist trust.
- Own-policy adapters (WhatsApp, WeCom, Weixin, QQBot, Yuanbao) default
dm_policy/group_policy to pairing/allowlist instead of open; open now
requires an explicit GATEWAY_ALLOW_ALL_USERS or per-platform allow-all.
- Startup guard (_own_policy_open_startup_violation) refuses to boot when
an enabled adapter is open without the allow-all opt-in; the guard now
runs for every secondary profile in multiplex mode too.
- Profile-aware own-policy authorization: _authorization_adapter /
_adapter_for_source resolve the live adapter via SessionSource.profile,
so _is_user_authorized and the ingress/pairing/busy/queue paths read the
originating profile's adapter policy, not the default profile's.
- Fail-closed intake for Email, Feishu P2P, and Discord (blank-principal
denial, empty-allowlist deny, missing-interaction.user deny).
Salvaged from #44073 (external-surface hardening), split into a focused
gateway-authz PR per maintainer request. Follow-up fix by Hermes Agent:
the Discord slash-auth channel bypass now matches DISCORD_ALLOWED_CHANNELS
by the same name-inclusive keys (id + name + #name + parent) the on_message
scope gate uses, so a name-form channel allowlist authorizes slash
interactions consistently (was id-only, breaking #name matching).

The WeCom callback endpoint (internet-facing, 0.0.0.0) parsed untrusted
request bodies before signature verification. defusedxml already guards
the entity-expansion class on main, but there was no cap on raw body
size, so an unauthenticated POST could still force unbounded read work
pre-auth.
Set client_max_size=64KB on the aiohttp app (413 at the framework layer)
plus an explicit length guard in _handle_callback as defense in depth.
WeCom callbacks are small encrypted XML envelopes — media is delivered
out-of-band via MediaId, never inline — so 64KB is ample for legitimate
traffic. Adds tests for oversized (413) and normal-sized (not 413) bodies.
Salvaged from #10192 by @memosr (body-size limit half; defusedxml half
already superseded on main).
After a prolonged outage the in-process network-error ladder escalates to
fatal and GatewayRunner._platform_reconnect_watcher rebuilds a fresh adapter
that reconnects through the bootstrap path. That path called
start_polling(drop_pending_updates=True), discarding every update Telegram
queued during the outage — all messages sent while the bot was down were
silently lost. The in-process ladder and 409-conflict handler already passed
drop_pending_updates=False; only bootstrap did not distinguish a cold first
boot from a reconnect.
Thread an is_reconnect signal from the watcher through
_connect_adapter_with_timeout into adapter.connect(). The base
BasePlatformAdapter.connect() gains a keyword-only is_reconnect=False so every
adapter inherits a tolerant signature (no per-platform breakage when the
runner forwards the kwarg). Telegram translates is_reconnect into
drop_pending_updates=not is_reconnect on both the polling and webhook bootstrap
calls. Cold boot still drops the stale queue; a watcher reconnect preserves it.

Salvage of PR #41284 onto current main. Relocates the last 9 inline messaging
adapters (+ satellites: telegram_network, feishu_comment/_rules/meeting_invite,
wecom_crypto, wecom_callback) from gateway/platforms/ into self-contained
bundled plugins under plugins/platforms/<x>/, discovered via the platform
registry. Strips the per-platform core touchpoints from gateway/run.py,
gateway/config.py, hermes_cli/gateway.py, hermes_cli/setup.py, and
tools/send_message_tool.py.
Carries forward the migration fixes (explicit enabled:false honored,
get_connected_platforms forces discovery, plugin is_connected via
gateway.get_env_value, logs --component gateway matches plugins.platforms.*,
matrix hidden on Windows).
Additionally ports config keys main added since the PR base: the matrix
plugin's _apply_yaml_config now also covers allowed_users,
ignore_user_patterns, process_notices, and session_scope (the inline
gateway/config.py matrix block gained these in the 1340 commits the PR sat
open; they would otherwise have been silently dropped on deletion).
