Three wrong-store paths in the TUI/Desktop backend under multiplexing:
- insights.get was scoped=True and then called _get_db(): before the launch
handle was pinned (#102526, #108074) a scoped first touch bound the
process-wide handle to the requested profile's state.db; even pinned, the
RPC answered for the launch profile whatever `profile` said. Route it
through _profile_db so it counts the requested profile's sessions.
- prompt.background side agents were handed the launch handle, so a
named-profile Bot Chat's bg_* rows appeared in the default profile's
session list and were missing from the profile's own history. Inherit the
parent agent's dedicated _session_db.
- session_lifecycle's gateway-owned-source guard and the notification
poller's compression-tip resolver looked the session up in the launch
store, where a named-profile row does not exist: the guard was dead and
a compression-rotated profile session lost every post-compression
delegation/background completion (the fail-closed owner gate never
matched the compressed parent's key). Both now use the session's own
store via _session_db(session).
Addresses #102157, #102526.
Reverts the in-tree org skill-marketplace: hermes_wisdom package, three
model tools, CLI/gateway/desktop/dashboard/Telegram/Slack surfaces.
Later non-Wisdom work on shared files (guest onboarding i18n, dashboard
startup schema, Slack adapter, tui_gateway) is kept; Wisdom-only call
sites and config were stripped from those files.

* wisdom: add agent-led sharing core (policy, evidence, schemas, templates, delivery, weekly job, share/install flows)
- hermes_wisdom/agent_led/: policy resolution (server > local > defaults),
7-day evidence builder that excludes bundled/hub/managed skills and
dismissed/handled/recently-suggested content hashes, strict pydantic
schemas for agent output with repair-or-reject, fixed copy templates
(Share / Teammate / Published / Update / Mute), idempotent retried
delivery ledger with stale-action resolution, weekly review job,
resumable Share and Install flows.
- prompts/: candidate review, recipient recommendation, share packaging.
- tests/wisdom/test_agent_led.py: 30 tests.
* wisdom: agent-led renderers and button action dispatcher
- render.py: Telegram HTML, Slack blocks, Desktop payload; editorial name
is the emphasized line, product label stays separate.
- actions.py: resolve opaque wa:<action>:<dedup> targets via the delivery
ledger; Not now -> dismissal, Mute -> fixed options, Share -> resumable
packaging flow, Install/Update -> plan command. Never publishes/installs.
* wisdom: CLI verbs, agent_led config default, conversational catalog skill
- hermes wisdom browse/review-week/act/share/dismiss/mute (all --json).
- wisdom.agent_led config block, default enabled.
- SKILL.md rewritten so natural-language catalog questions map to the CLI
verbs, share/install flows and fixed notification templates.
* wisdom: wire agent-led weekly review into gateway tick and Telegram buttons
- gateway housekeeping tick calls maybe_run_weekly_review with a home
channel sender when a Telegram adapter is available.
- Telegram: wa: callbacks resolved through the ledger (stale-safe), mute
duration keyboard, send_wisdom_agent_recommendation rich card + fallback.

* feat(wisdom): expose safe receipt and outcome sync recovery
* wisdom: onboarding notice says detect and share, names the user's own skill
Copy review from the product owner on the first and returning
qualification notices (fixed delivery mode):
- the feature blurb now says the org enabled detection *and sharing*
- both notices say the detected skill is one the user created
- both close with an exclamation mark
Applied identically to hermes_wisdom.notice, the desktop and web i18n
strings, and the tests that assert the sentences.
* wisdom: one opener, no approval line, ask to share after the skill is shown
Product owner review of the candidate card.
- The Hermes written card now opens with the same sentence as the fixed card
("Your organisation has enabled Collective Wisdom, a feature designed to
automatically detect and share useful skills across all team members.")
instead of its own blurb, so there is one first time message.
- "Nothing is shared without your approval." removed from Telegram, Slack
and Desktop. The buttons already make the permission explicit.
- "Would you like to share?" no longer appears before the skill is named.
It is now the last line, after the skill name, description, why suggested
and the checks, and reads "Would you like to share it?" (matching the
agent led template wording).
Tests updated for the new order; proposalNotice removed from all desktop locales.
* wisdom: American spelling, organization
Product owner decision: user facing copy uses American spelling.
Changes "Your organisation" to "Your organization" in the chat notice,
the Hermes written card opener, the desktop and web strings, and the
tests that assert them. Identifiers such as nas_organisation:* and the
German and French locales are untouched.
* wisdom: candidate card copy round 4 (owner review)
Apply the product owner's round 4 copy decisions to the Hermes Collective
Wisdom candidate card on Telegram, Slack, Desktop and the shared views:
1. Hermes-written cards are titled "Hermes Collective Wisdom" instead of
the bare "Collective Wisdom".
2. The "Reusable skill ready to review" line is gone from the candidate
card (Telegram rich card and plain fallback, legacy agent-led share
template).
3. The skill name and description are labelled: "Skill name: <name>" and
"What it does: <description>" (Telegram, Slack, Desktop).
4. "Why suggested:" is now "Why others might benefit:".
5. A passing professionalism review reads "Safe to share at work ✓ (no
inappropriate content found)" with no per-check bullets and no "Pass";
a failed review reads "Needs a look before sharing at work (possible
inappropriate content)" and lists only the checks that flagged
something. Pending/unavailable wording is unchanged.
6. Telegram button toasts: "Will ask later...", "Preparing more
details...", "Sharing...".
7. Qualification reasons: "You used this skill consistently across many
days." and "You've really refined this skill."
8. prompts/wisdom_candidate_review.md asks for a compelling
editorial_name, a simple one_line_description and a compelling
why_coworkers_benefit under 300 characters; "Be concise and
convincing." becomes "Be concise and compelling: the goal is that the
user wants to share it."
Tests updated for the new strings; review_text() gains direct coverage.
* wisdom: re-apply owner copy after rebase
- Native share cards (advice_view/interaction_view): drop the approval line, ask "Would you like to share it?" as the last line after the checks
- Hermes-written completion card titled "Hermes Collective Wisdom"
- Qualification reasons use the owner wording (consistently across many days / really refined)
- American spelling (organization) in remaining English copy
- Desktop test asserts the current Share button; web test matches the returning notice
* fix(wisdom): pin reconciled Gateway and verify Unicode hash vectors
Pin Gateway 60cd2d6b613ae3cd4a6e65155d1142006d907e78 and byte-identical producer artifacts. Verify every content-order case and package-manifest binding. Validation: 186 focused Python tests, Ruff and contract verifier.

Capabilities → Plugins is now a single table: one row per PACKAGE, with a
Desktop column (this app) and an Agent column (the selected profile). A
package with both halves is one row, never two; the kind badge is inferred
from what it ships (plugin.yaml → agent, plugin.js → desktop).
The desktop half of a unified agent+desktop package no longer loads from the
profile-shaped `plugins/<name>/desktop/` folder. Electron copies that half
into `~/.hermes/desktop-plugins/<name>/` beside a `.hermes-package.json`
marker (package name, source, origin repo/sha) and keeps it in sync: newer
source → re-copy, package uninstalled → copy removed, hand-installed
standalone folder of the same name → never overwritten. The renderer scans
exactly one root, so a pane can never appear, disappear, or re-scope when the
user switches profiles — the same switch reads the same value everywhere.
Why a copy rather than scanning every profile: two profiles can carry the
same package at different SHAs; a scan has to pick one silently. One copy,
one source of truth, stamped with where it came from.
- plugin-packages.ts: pure merge of desktop records + agent rows → rows
- plugins.manage list reports `has_desktop_half` so the pairing is explicit
- Install dialog (local backend): the desktop half is materialised from the
installed package instead of cloning a second standalone copy; remote
backends keep the separate clone. Target path now names the real profile
folder for non-default profiles.
- "Install here": a desktop half whose agent half is missing in the selected
profile pre-fills the dialog from the marker's origin; disabled with an
explanation for hand-copied folders with no origin.
- Profile selector moves into the Agent column header; hidden with 1 profile
- Rescan/Update reconcile the copies BEFORE rescanning (ordering bug)
- Drop the dead `agentPluginsRoot` IPC; docs updated (desktop.md, SDK,
bot-mode.md, hermes-desktop-plugins reference)
Live-dogfooded on a headless Electron with two profiles and a real
file:// git package: install both halves, profile switch ×3, Install here
into the second profile, v2 update via `hermes plugins update` → chip text
changes on Rescan, uninstall from both profiles → copy and row gone, broken
plugin row, cold restart, sash drag/reset, legacy Settings → Plugins
redirect.
Only the CLI could install a plugin at an exact commit (`--ref <sha>`); the
Desktop "Install from Git" dialog, the TUI gateway `plugins.manage install`
method and the dashboard `/agent-plugins/install` endpoint all called
`_install_plugin_core` without a ref, so a team that wanted everyone on the
same private-plugin commit had to leave the app for a terminal.
- `dashboard_install_plugin(ref=)` threads the pin to `_install_plugin_core`;
the 40-hex validation and HEAD verification are unchanged. The gateway
method and dashboard body accept `ref`.
- Desktop dialog gains an optional "Pin to commit" field (custom sources only,
client-side 40-hex check disables Install on anything shorter).
- `plugins.manage list` rows carry `pinned_sha`; the Desktop plugins tab shows
a `pinned @ <sha8>` badge and `hermes plugins list` prints `git pinned@<sha8>`
in Source, so a team can eyeball that everyone runs the same commit.
- hermes_cli/plugins_cmd_catalog.py: new sibling owning resolution, the
.hermes-catalog.json provenance sidecar, search/info/validate, re-pin on
update, and the dashboard/TUI payload builders. plugins_cmd.py only
gains the hooks (cmd_install catalog branch, cmd_update / dashboard
update re-pin, dashboard_install_plugin catalog_name + kill list,
dispatch entries); the community index (plugin_index.py) is gone.
- hermes_cli/plugin_catalog.py: catalog_dir parameter replaces the
test-only HERMES_PLUGIN_CATALOG_DIR env var; live refresh reads ONE
published document (/docs/api/plugin-catalog.json, 6h cache, in-tree
fallback) instead of the unauthenticated GitHub contents API (60 req/h,
1 request per entry); in-tree and live removals are unioned so a stale
cache can never un-block.
- Catalog route lives in web_routers/dashboard_ui.py (the facade is off
limits); _plugin_runtime_status shared from web_server_dashboard.py;
hub rows carry removed_reason. TUI plugins.manage gains catalog_name
install, catalog row fields and an update action.
- plugin_validate: the probe context honours ctx.get_config defaults
(real plugins do int(ctx.get_config("timeout", 180)) in register()).
- Installed-state merge matches through the sidecar's catalog_name
first — catalog names rarely equal manifest names.
- extract-plugins.py emits plugin-catalog.json; deploy-site triggers on
plugin-catalog/** so entry merges republish it.
Preserve producer descriptions without identity wrappers and size the existing themed tooltip to the viewport. Replace skipped and structural tests with two behavioral invariants. Native Electron before/after hover, click and keyboard verification passed; campaign suite validation remains queued.
Keep parsing, contracts, gates and persisted goal mutations in one dispatcher. Adapters retain authorization, rendering and scheduling; TUI drafting resolves the target session profile off the RPC reader. Document ACP as unsupported rather than implying a goal loop exists.
mcp.servers.status now rides the shared _mcp_rpc decorator (profile scope, 4064,
5024 with the real message) instead of a hand-rolled try/finally with a blanket
except. Drop the _MCPConnectErrorText str subclass and reason taxonomy: the
existing status/error fields already carry the state, and a whitelist on the RPC
keeps error text out of the wire. The Desktop connections.health contribution
contract is held back until its consumer plugin is public. Tests trimmed to the
scope invariants (per-profile runtime visibility, scoped shutdown clears only its
own status, launch runtime never leaks into another profile).
- /goal and /loop are command.dispatch built-ins (never reach the slash worker), so the
worker-branch publish never fired for the most common typed commands and the structured
card stayed stale until the next turn. The publish helper now lives beside _snapshot_control
in methods_session_control.py and is called from both slash paths plus the end of the turn
tail — after the goal judge / loop tick evaluation, which mutate state AFTER message.complete.
- session.control skips the duplicate emit for dispatcher-backed actions (still exactly one
update per mutation).
- Removed tui_gateway/desktop_heartbeat_driver.py, the entry/ws hooks and the hermes_cli lock
rework: #104224 drives /heartbeat from the existing per-session poller for every TUI client.
- test_session_control.py: dropped presentation-shaped cases, added the publication invariants
(both slash paths, unknown dispatch publishes nothing, real _run_prompt_submit turn publishes
post-judge). 3/3 new tests fail on the contributor backend.
Independent review: substring matching lost the selected objective (after a
message offering API or UI work, '/goal ship the API' and '/goal ship the UI'
kicked identically), and the gateway and TUI /goal paths still re-sent the
full goal. The rule now lives once in hermes_cli.goals.goal_kick_prompt:
the pointer replaces the goal only when the goal is >= 400 chars, contained
in the last user message, and >= 80% of it. The CLI reads the last user
message from its history; the gateway and TUI read it from the SessionDB
(fail-safe: goal sent verbatim).
Tests: a fragment that selects one option is kicked verbatim; a long goal
that is a minority of a longer message is kicked verbatim; all three
surfaces call the shared function.
For each issue anchor present in BASE 63279301bc non-test .py and absent on HEAD, the BASE comment/docstring block was re-attached at the HEAD location of the code it explained (matched by the distinctive code line / enclosing def). Sentences already covered by an existing HEAD comment were deduped; the issue number always survives. Insert-only: no code lines changed.
Policy: availability-gated tools (check_fn probes — Docker, HASS_TOKEN,
OAuth…) are frozen for the life of a session. tools[] only changes on
/new, /reload-mcp, or compaction. Two doors remained after #100638:
* Gateway agent-cache eviction (LRU/idle sweep/cross-process invalidation)
rebuilds a fresh AIAgent for the SAME session and agent_init re-derives
agent.tools from live probes with no predecessor to preserve. Persist
the session's resolved tool-name order in a new `sessions.tool_names`
JSON column (declarative reconciliation, SCHEMA_VERSION 28), written
alongside the system prompt and re-pinned on every published refresh
(so /reload-mcp and compaction naturally reset it; /new mints a new
row). On restore-for-existing-session the fresh definitions are folded
onto the saved order via the SAME `_merge_preserving_prefix` helper —
a probe-flipped tool is carried forward from the registry schema, a
deregistered one dropped, new tools appended at the tail.
* /reload-mcp (CLI, gateway, TUI RPC) now also calls
`reprobe_tool_availability()` — drops the check_fn verdict cache and the
get_tool_definitions memo — so a user can consciously pick up a
credential/daemon that appeared mid-session. Docs updated.
Manual /compress on a compute-host (turn_isolation) session blocked its RPC
waiter for a hard-coded 120s, answered error 5019, and then DROPPED the
host's late `control.ack`: HostSupervisor.control() popped the pending
queue in `finally`, so `_handle_host_frame` had nothing to deliver to. The
host kept compressing, succeeded minutes later, rotated the session — and
the gateway session never mirrored the new session_key/history_version and
the desktop never refreshed its transcript.
- host_supervisor: `control(..., on_late_ack=)` leaves a one-shot handler
registered when the waiter times out; control.ack/control.error/error
frames for that request_id fire it (bounded: 30min TTL, cap 64). A host
crash fails outstanding handlers with a synthetic control.error.
- server: `_compute_host_compress_wait_seconds()` derives the wait from
`compression.context_total_ceiling_seconds` (+30s slack, floor 120s,
cap 630s) instead of the literal 120. `_adopt_late_compute_host_compress_ack`
applies the metadata mirror and emits the same `session.info` a normal
compress does plus the existing `status.update kind=compacted` edge; a
late error goes out through the existing `error` event.
- session.compress / slash.compress (methods_tools + _mirror_slash_side_effects):
on waiter timeout answer `status: pending` (not 5019) and register the
late-ack handler.
- desktop: SESSION_COMPRESS_TIMEOUT_MS 120s -> 660s (above the gateway cap);
`status: 'pending'` renders as an info notice, not `error:`; the
`compacted` status edge rehydrates an idle active session's transcript
(mid-turn compaction still defers to the turn settle path).
Minimal extraction of the design in #99630 by @vsd2807 (design trace by
@andrexibiza and @JoaoMarcos44 in the #97948 thread); no new DB tables,
modules, or polling protocol.

The gateway's session-backed MCP OAuth flow (mcp.servers.oauth.start) binds
its browser-callback listener on the BACKEND machine's 127.0.0.1. When the
Desktop app connects to a remote backend (SSH/Tailscale), the user's browser
resolves that loopback to the user's machine, the redirect dies, and every
OAuth catalog server (ClickUp, Hospitable, ...) fails in-app with no working
path — the exact topology from the 'MCP Recurring erros' support thread.
Fix mirrors the Desktop's native gateway login (native-oauth-login.ts):
- gateway: mcp.servers.oauth.start accepts client_redirect_uri (loopback-only,
RFC 8252-style validation); when supplied no gateway listener is bound and
the OAuth redirect_uri pins to the client's listener.
- gateway: new mcp.servers.oauth.callback RPC relays the client-captured
code/state into the flow; state verification stays in
DashboardOAuthFlow.deliver_callback (constant-time compare, replay-safe).
- desktop: mcp-oauth-callback-ipc.ts hosts a one-shot 127.0.0.1 listener in
the main process (hermes:mcp-oauth:listen/wait/cancel via preload bridge).
- desktop: hermes-bots mcp-setup.tsx prefers the client listener for local
AND remote backends, falling back to the legacy gateway-listener flow on
older gateways (feature-detect via start rejection).
- docs: remote-host MCP OAuth section documents the automatic Desktop path.
Validation: 19 new gateway tests (validator allowlist, listener skip, relay
accept/reject/replay) — sabotage-verified; 5 new desktop tests against a real
ephemeral listener; E2E through the real session registry + flow bridge with
a stubbed provider probe; tsc electron+renderer builds clean.
The bundled plan skill's auto-generated slash command fell off the capped
Telegram/Discord command menus for most installs (skills are the only tier
trimmed at the platform caps, alphabetically — 'plan' sat past the cutoff at
index 57 of 82 bundled skills). Converting it to a first-class CommandDef
gives it a guaranteed core-tier menu slot on every platform.
- agent/plan_prompt.py: build_plan_prompt() — plan-mode rules + authoring
craft distilled from the retired skill; prompt-injection pattern like
/learn and /init (no engine, no model-tool footprint, cache-safe).
- CLI: _handle_plan_command mixin handler (pending-input injection).
- Gateway: /plan branch rewrites event.text and falls through (role
alternation preserved).
- TUI: command.dispatch branch ('plan' was already in
_PENDING_INPUT_COMMANDS).
- Removed skills/software-development/plan/ + docs pages (EN + zh-Hans),
catalog rows, sidebar entry, related_skills references.
- PROTECTED_BUILTIN_SKILLS is now empty (mechanism kept); dependent
curator/usage tests moved to monkeypatched sentinels.
Salvages #67292 by @webtecnica (credit: first /plan command submission,
issue #67264); reworked from inline planning prompt to the prompt-injection
pattern with workspace-saved plans. Closes#67264, closes#36821 (empty
/plan infers task from conversation context).
Inference is now any args_hint without subcommands → text. Mixed is the
only remaining hint-token path. desktop= and the few argument_mode
overrides live on the registry entry; the side tables are gone. Catalog
aliases get their own dict copy. Composer tests seed the catalog so
/goal stays mixed without an overlay row.
New commands and plugins declare argument_mode and desktop availability
on CommandDef / register_command. commands.catalog ships that map so
desktop does not need a second command list.
deliver='bot-chat[:<profile>]' is a machine-local pseudo-platform: the
scheduler delivers job output as a real inbound turn in the target
profile's canonical Bot Chat via the chat CLI lane (--in ~ -c "Bot Chat"
--create-if-missing -Q --query-file), the same lane Bot Mode
agent-to-agent messages use. The bot reads the output, acts on it, and
responds in its chat — instead of the output only landing in Run history.
- cron/scheduler.py: token parsing, target resolution (own profile /
named local profile / unknown -> skipped with warning), subprocess
delivery lane with cron.bot_chat_delivery_timeout_seconds (default
600s), preflight exemption, and bot-chat entries in
cron_delivery_targets() for UI pickers. Excluded from 'all' by design.
- tools/cronjob_tools.py: create/update-time validation — named profiles
must exist on this machine (fail at create, not at 3am); deliver schema
documents the new token.
- tui_gateway/methods_tools.py: cron.manage add forwards deliver.
- hermes_cli/profiles.py: list_profile_names() cheap name-only scan.
- hermes-bots plugin: Create Cronjob dialog gains a 'Send results to'
picker (Run history only / <bot>'s chat); bot-chat jobs send the BARE
token on the profile-scoped create so Desktop-side aliases can never
name a profile the backend doesn't have.
- Docs: user cron guide, automate-with-cron, cron-internals.
Machine-local by construction: names resolve only against the executing
machine's ~/.hermes/profiles/, so overlapping profile names across
multiple connected gateways are unambiguous.
* fix(gateway): persist prompt.submit truncation to the session's own profile DB
`_get_db()` returns the LAUNCH profile's SessionDB handle. App-global
remote mode gives a session its own profile (`session["profile_home"]`)
whose transcript lives in that profile's `state.db`, so a write keyed on
`session_key` that goes through `_get_db()` addresses the wrong database.
In the `prompt.submit` truncate branch that has two consequences. The
edit/resend never sticks — `session.resume` reopens the profile db and
resurrects the undone turns — and when the launch profile happens to hold
a row under the same session id, the truncated transcript is inserted
into a profile the session does not belong to.
It also silently voids the branch's own fail-closed contract. The handler
persists before it rewrites `session["history"]` precisely so that a
failed write refuses the turn and leaves memory and DB aligned; that only
holds if the handle it checks is the one that owns the row.
`_session_db(session)` is the profile-aware resolver that already exists
for this: the profile's `state.db` when `profile_home` is set, otherwise
the shared launch handle. Non-profile sessions are unaffected —
`_session_db` borrows the same shared handle and leaves it open.
`active_only=True` and `archive_dropped=True` are carried through
unchanged; only the handle the call is made against changes.
* fix(gateway): resolve the /undo command against the session's own profile DB
`command.dispatch`'s `/undo` branch opened the launch profile's handle via
`_get_db()`, but every read and write under it is scoped by session id:
`list_recent_user_messages`, `rewind_to_message` and the
`get_messages_as_conversation` reload all key on `session_key`.
For a session with its own profile (`session["profile_home"]`) the rows
live in that profile's `state.db`, so against the launch handle
`list_recent_user_messages` returns nothing and the command fails closed
with `4018 "no user messages to undo"` — for the entire session, on every
invocation, even though the transcript is right there in the profile db.
Route the whole branch through `_session_db(session)`, which yields the db
that owns the session's row and closes a profile handle on exit. Sessions
without a profile keep borrowing the shared launch handle exactly as
before, so this is behaviourally identical for them.
* fix(gateway): read /history and /context from the session's own profile DB
`_format_live_history_output` and `_format_live_context_output` rebuild the
transcript from the database rather than from `session["history"]`, because
the in-memory list is empty for a session this process did not run itself.
Both reads are scoped by session id but were issued against `_get_db()`,
the launch profile's handle.
A session with its own profile (`session["profile_home"]`) keeps its rows
in that profile's `state.db`, so both reads come back empty and the
commands under-report: `/history` renders "No conversation history yet."
and `/context` falls back to the empty in-memory list and reports a
conversation of zero messages. Both swallow their exceptions, so there is
no error either — just a wrong answer about the user's own transcript.
Resolve both through `_session_db(session)`, the profile-aware resolver
used by the rest of the session-scoped paths.
* test(gateway): cover session-scoped transcript ops against a profile DB
Regression coverage for the three session-scoped sites that resolved
against the launch profile's handle instead of the db owning the
session's row. Each test drives the real JSON-RPC entry point with a
session carrying `profile_home`, seeds the transcript into the profile's
own `state.db`, and asserts against both databases.
Per site, with the production change reverted to its pre-fix form:
- `prompt.submit` truncation — `test_truncation_persists_to_the_profile_db`
and `test_truncation_does_not_copy_rows_into_the_launch_profile` fail.
The second seeds a row under the same session id in the launch db so the
foreign write succeeds instead of failing a key check, which is the case
that copies a transcript into a profile it does not belong to.
- `/undo` — `test_undo_rewinds_the_profile_transcript` fails with
`4018 "no user messages to undo"`.
- `/history` and `/context` — `test_history_reads_the_profile_transcript`
and `test_context_reads_the_profile_transcript` fail, reporting an empty
conversation.
`test_undo_still_uses_the_shared_handle_without_a_profile` and
`test_truncation_without_a_profile_uses_the_shared_handle` pin the
unchanged path: with no `profile_home` the resolver must borrow the shared
launch handle and leave it open. Both stay green in every direction, so a
future change cannot satisfy the profile cases by abandoning the shared
one.
* fix(desktop): aim truncations by durable id alone on tail-only transcripts
The cold-open transcript is a newest-first prefetch page
(LATEST_SESSION_MESSAGES_LIMIT = 120) with the resume RPC sent
omit_messages — older rows only arrive via "Show earlier" backfill.
planEdit/planReload/planRestore still counted truncate ordinals over
that windowed list, so every edit/reload/restore in a session longer
than the prefetch page sent a window-relative ordinal alongside the
durable row/message id. The gateway's #82959 cross-check resolved the
durable id to its full-history ordinal, read the offset as drift, and
refused with 4030 — making the Edit affordance permanently dead in
long sessions.
When the transcript may be tail-only (the transcript-tail
bookkeeping's possiblyTruncated), drop the client ordinal and address
the truncation by durable id alone — the same rule runRewindSubmit
already applies to content-resolved row ids (#87059). The ordinal
tripwire stays on whenever the transcript is complete.
Closes#88082
* fix(desktop): drop client rewind ordinal whenever a durable id is present
#88092 gated the drop on tail-only prefetch. After in-place compact the
live scrollback is treated as complete, so Restore still sent a
display-lineage ordinal next to a resolved row id and the gateway
refused with 4030 (#89244). prefix_user_count is structurally 0 on
in-place because get_ancestor_display_prefix is cross-session.
Same choke point: if a durable truncate_before_row_id or a real
truncate_before_message_id is present, omit the client ordinal.
confirm_empty_truncate is still carried from a caller ordinal of 0.
Unknown ids still fail closed at 4018.

After a standing goal auto-paused on turn-budget exhaustion, every
surface's /goal resume handler only flipped the persisted state back to
active (and reset turns_used) and rendered an acknowledgement — nothing
re-entered the conversation loop, so the goal sat idle until the user
sent another ordinary message.
Fix the whole class by scheduling the canonical
GoalManager.next_continuation_prompt() through each surface's existing
input path after a successful resume:
- Desktop/TUI (tui_gateway/methods_tools.py command.dispatch): return a
sendable {type: "send"} dispatch with the continuation as the message,
a "Continuing now" notice, and display "/goal resume" so the
transcript shows the concise invocation instead of the model-facing
scaffolding. No-goal keeps the exec response.
- Classic CLI (hermes_cli/cli_commands_mixin.py): put the continuation
on _pending_input, same as the /goal <text> kickoff.
- Messaging gateway (gateway/slash_commands.py): enqueue a continuation
MessageEvent through the adapter FIFO — the same path the post-turn
judge uses — so queued real user messages preempt naturally and the
pause/clear stale-continuation cleanup recognizes it.
Also correct the now-misleading gateway.goal.resumed copy ("Send any
message to continue…") across all 17 locale files.
Regression tests cover exact budget exhaustion → resume on the real CLI
handler, the real gateway handler (including the
_is_goal_continuation_event guard contract), and the TUI
command.dispatch boundary; verified each fails on the pre-fix code.
Fixes#75362
Adds a reviewable in-app install path for Hermes plugins:
hermes://plugin/install?repo=owner/repo (and Settings -> Plugins ->
Install from Git) opens a confirmation modal showing the repo identity
and source links, shallow-clones to probe for agent and/or desktop
plugin artifacts, lets the user pick components, then installs — agent
side through the gateway's new plugins.manage `install` action (wrapping
the existing dashboard_install_plugin), desktop side through a new
Electron git-install module with subdir-escape guards, a 60s clone
timeout, non-interactive git env, and insecure-scheme warnings. Never
auto-installs; hybrid repos get one dialog. Legacy plugin-agent /
plugin-desktop deeplinks route into the same modal.
Salvaged from PR #82735 by @serefyarar (net diff applied onto current
main as a single authored commit; the branch carried merge commits).
The preview screenshot PNG from the original branch was intentionally
not carried over — images live in PR bodies, not the repo.
- Remove the bundled Example Plugin from the desktop renderer plugins
(apps/desktop/src/plugins/example/). Reference/demo plugins live in the
companion hermes-example-plugins repo (already pointed to by
src/plugins/README.md); shipping the counter demo in everyone's Settings
doubled UI noise for no user value.
- Agent plugins section now hides ALL repo-bundled built-ins
(source === 'bundled': browser/browserbase, cron_providers/chronos,
model-providers/deepinfra, platform adapters, image/video backends, …).
The section is the control panel for plugins the user installed
(user/git/project/pip/portable); built-ins ship enabled-by-default and
are configured from their own surfaces. The HIDDEN_KEY_PREFIXES list
stays as a fallback for older backends. Count pill reflects the
filtered list.
- Add an "Applies to" profile scope selector to the Agent plugins section
(same pattern as the Capabilities scope selector): list/toggle any
profile's plugins without switching the whole app. Backend:
plugins.manage now accepts an optional `profile` param via the same
set_hermes_home_override contract as cron.manage / mcp.servers.*;
unscoped calls are unchanged, so older backends keep working.
- i18n: new settings.plugins.agent.appliesTo key (types + en + zh; other
locales fall back through defineLocale).
- Tests: plugins-settings.test.tsx covers bundled hiding, prefix fallback,
count pill, selector visibility, scoped list/toggle payloads; new
tests/test_plugins_manage_profile_scope.py mirrors the cron.manage
profile-scope tests (scoped read, unknown-profile 4064, no override
leak, unscoped contract unchanged).
Wire the continuity flag through every cron-creation surface, not just the
model tool:
- dashboard (web/): checkbox in the cron job editor; form state round-trips
the stored reserved 'self' entry into the toggle and strips it from the
context_from textarea; web_server dashboard validator skips 'self'
(create precedes the job's existence)
- Bot Mode Routines tab (hermes-bots plugin): Continuity checkbox in the
New Cronjob dialog, forwarded through cron.manage
- tui_gateway cron.manage RPC: optional continuity param on action=add
vitest cron-job suite 10/10 (4 new), tsc app project clean, py_compile clean.
Independent review of the prior commit found the cache-invalidation key
alone doesn't fix the reported #88023 dead path: slash.exec runs as a
_LONG_HANDLER on the pool with a copied context, and no binding of
_HERMES_HOME_OVERRIDE happens between the transport read and the handler
body, so get_skill_commands() there always fell back to the process-level
HERMES_HOME regardless of which profile's session issued the request.
Bind the session's own profile_home around the get_skill_commands() check,
mirroring the same bind/reset-in-finally pattern already used at every
other per-turn HERMES_HOME scoping site (e.g. server.py's prompt-turn and
system-prompt-rebuild paths). This makes the #88023 dead path actually
reachable by the fix instead of only exercising the cache primitive in
isolation.
