The added test was a copy of test_approval_click_once_maps_to_once with only the
key's chat_type changed; retarget the original to the key build_source actually
emits. Both branches stay: approval keys carry "dm" (build_source), update-prompt
keys carry event.scene ("c2c") — a comment records why.
PR #30737 added authorization checks for approval button clicks but
hardcoded chat_type == 'c2c'. C2C sessions are actually created with
chat_type='dm' (build_source at L1278, L1488), so the check always
rejects DM approval buttons as unauthorized.
Accept both 'c2c' and 'dm' for direct-message session keys.
Self-review follow-ups on the F821 sweep:
- plugins/platforms/sms/adapter.py: the optional-import block now sets AIOHTTP_AVAILABLE like
the homeassistant / webhook / whatsapp_cloud adapters, and both call sites test the flag.
Removes the `if not aiohttp is not None:` double negation left by inlining
`_aiohttp_available()`.
- tools/mcp_tool_sampling.py: `call_context` defaults to `lambda: None` so the use site is a
single call instead of an Optional guard; the only None caller was a test. The
`from __future__ import annotations` was noise (`Context` is a runtime import). Comment
names the actual cycle (mcp_tool_server_run imports this module).
- gateway/platforms/helpers.py: drop the `from __future__ import annotations` — the only
MessageEvent annotations are attribute-target locals, which are never evaluated.
- tests/gateway/test_telegram_audio_vs_voice.py, test_video_context_note.py: module-level
`from gateway.run import GatewayRunner` like the ~100 sibling files; the
TYPE_CHECKING block + `# type: ignore[name-defined]` were contradicting each other.
(tests/e2e/conftest.py and test_feishu.py keep TYPE_CHECKING deliberately: they stub
telegram/discord before importing, and FeishuAdapter is gated on optional lark_oapi.)
Mutation check: neutralising the thunk read (`captured = None`) fails
test_captured_context_is_replayed_in_consent_call; restored → 14/14 green. ty on the three
touched production files vs origin/main: 0 new, 6 resolved.
Breaks the two import cycles that forced Protocol stand-ins in the F821 sweep, so the two
sites now name the real types.
gateway/platforms/event.py (new leaf): MessageType, ProcessingOutcome, MessageEvent moved
out of base.py verbatim. Their only dependency is gateway.session.SessionSource; base.py
imported helpers.py at module level, so helpers could not name MessageEvent. Now
TextBatchAggregator is typed by the real MessageEvent. 249 importers repointed
(`from gateway.platforms.base import` -> `.event`, preserving each import's layout);
gateway.platforms.__init__ re-exports from .event. The three revert-scheduled PLUGIN-COMPAT
pointers that named these symbols (gateway.slash_commands → MessageType, dingtalk → MessageType,
photon → ProcessingOutcome) and their COMPAT_MANIFEST rows now target gateway.platforms.event.
Docs updated: ADDING_A_PLATFORM.md, adding-platform-adapters.md (en + zh-Hans).
tools/mcp_tool_sampling.py: ElicitationHandler no longer holds a back-reference to its
MCPServerTask (mcp_tool imports sampling, so the task type cannot be named there). It only
ever read owner._pending_call_context, so it takes `call_context: Callable[[], Context | None]`
and MCPServerTask passes `lambda: self._pending_call_context`. The consent call is one
`functools.partial`, run directly or inside the captured Context.
ty on the 11 touched production files vs origin/main: 0 new diagnostics, 14 resolved.
(The one `source: SessionSource = None` diagnostic moves with the class; typing it Optional
exposes ~60 unguarded call sites — separate follow-up.)
Tests: tests/gateway + tests/plugins + tests/tools + touched files, 18,235 passed; the 31
failures reproduce identically on origin/main (macOS /private/tmp, systemd socket,
long-path fixtures, live-service tests).
Sweep of `ruff check . --select F821 --target-version py311`: 2,234 hits. 2,201 are left
alone on purpose: tui_gateway (2,169; bind_module rebinds bodies onto server.py globals,
all names verified to resolve there), the Feishu adapter (27; globals().update() SDK
binding) and the godmode script (5; dead standalone script). The other 33 were all
genuine defects. No lint config change; no TYPE_CHECKING escape hatches — every
annotation names a real, imported type; ty on the touched files: 0 new diagnostics.
- gateway/slash_commands.py: HISTORY_UNREADABLE never imported after #102117
→ NameError on the /btw error branch (same one-liner as #102952).
- gateway/platforms/whatsapp_common.py: `-> Path` return annotation with no Path
import (the body uses `_Path`). Never raised at runtime thanks to
`from __future__ import annotations`, but `typing.get_type_hints()` and ty
both fail on it.
- gateway/run.py: ActivityProvenance imported at module level
(agent.session_activity has no gateway deps); stringly annotation and the
lazy in-function import are gone.
- tools/patch_parser.py: PatchResult imported at module level; real return
annotation. The "avoid circular import" lazy import guarded a cycle that
does not exist (file_operations_common never imports patch_parser).
- gateway/platforms/helpers.py: base.py imports helpers at module level, so
MessageEvent cannot be named here; TextBatchAggregator only reads .text and
.source, so it is typed by a BatchableEvent Protocol that MessageEvent
satisfies structurally.
- tools/mcp_tool_sampling.py: mcp_tool imports this module, so MCPServerTask
cannot be named here; ElicitationHandler only reads
owner._pending_call_context, typed by an ElicitationOwner Protocol.
- plugins/platforms/sms/adapter.py: aiohttp is an optional dep ([messaging] extra) →
module-level try/except ImportError binding `aiohttp = web = None`, the pattern the
homeassistant / webhook / whatsapp_cloud adapters already use. Retires three lazy
in-function imports and the `_aiohttp_available()` wrapper; `_handle_webhook` typed
`web.Request -> web.Response`.
- plugins/platforms/teams/summary_writer.py: plain module-level `import httpx` — httpx is a
hard core dependency (pyproject `httpx[socks]==0.28.1`), so the lazy import and the
"imported on every CLI start" docstring premise were both wrong (plugin discovery never
imports this module; it is reached only via the Teams adapter / meeting pipeline).
Tests:
- tests/hermes_cli/test_config.py: a test body orphaned by the wave-1 prune
(6b81590c55) sat inside the class as dead code with self/tmp_path unbound
— header restored, so the v11→12 custom_providers migration is covered.
- tests/tools/test_mcp_tool.py: @staticmethod recursing on `self` in the
win32 branch; call portalocker directly.
- tests/test_background_review_list_shapes.py: main() still ran 3 pruned tests.
- tests/agent/test_cursor_optimizations_parity.py: bench() used names only
imported inside a sibling test.
- GatewayRunner / FeishuAdapter / Dict / Optional: missing imports.
Persist paused state, timestamp, reason and no first trigger in the original
locked creation write. Forward the same boolean contract across CLI, tool,
gateway API and dashboard API, validating at the store boundary. Preserve
explicit operator force-run behavior and normal enabled creation.
The live CLI probe also caught the command shim dropping failure return codes;
forward them so invalid creation reports exit 1 rather than success.
Credit earlier atomic-creation work in #78935 and #94952 and the focused
implementation in #104578. The broader manifest staging layer is not imported.

Second review pass on the flood-retry change.
- sweep_recoverable returns a dead owner's not-yet-due flood row flagged
`adopted` (with its `not_before`) instead of dropping it from the result,
so _claim_pending_obligations clears its session's resume_pending flag like
every other claimed row; the answer is in the ledger and the turn must not
be re-run at boot. _redeliver_claimed_obligations skips adopted rows and
still arms the timer for them.
- A legacy row without adapter_profile is normalised to 'default' when the
boot sweep claims or adopts it: the runtime sweep matches profiles exactly
and the timer asks for 'default', so an adopted NULL row could only wake the
timer without ever being sent.
- A sleeping timer is replaced by a shorter refusal's timer; the shorter one
re-arms for the longer row after its sweep. A timer already sweeping is
never cancelled from outside.
- pending_flood_retries is read in a worker thread like the other ledger calls.
- Adoption tests seed a distinct dead-owner stamp and assert ownership moves.
- Scratch tags and long comment lines removed.
The Telegram adapter fails a flood-controlled final send closed as
flood_control:<seconds> so the send coroutine never sleeps a long penalty
(#91969), on the understanding that the delivery ledger owns the wait. The
ledger did not: sweep_failed_for_runtime only replayed send_path_degraded
rows, so a flood-refused row sat in 'failed' until the next restart, whose
sweep_recoverable then redelivered it hours late prefixed with "Recovered
reply, the gateway restarted during delivery, so this may be a duplicate".
Observed: a reply refused at 08:58 UTC (both the MarkdownV2 send and the
plain fallback got flood_control:185) arrived at 12:15 UTC after a restart,
labelled as a possible duplicate although the platform had never accepted it.
Ledger (gateway/delivery_ledger.py):
- flood_control rows are runtime-retryable, but only once their own deadline
has passed: the refusal's updated_at plus the platform's wait
(flood_not_before). Neither an early timer nor a reconnect sweep spends a
redelivery attempt inside the penalty window.
- A flood refusal of a reply that fits in one Telegram message (4096 UTF-16
units) proves non-delivery, so that redelivery carries no duplicate marker.
A chunked reply may have had its first chunk accepted before the refusal
and keeps the marker.
- Claiming a flood row clears the stale refusal (last_error NULL, state
'attempting'), so a resend interrupted before mark_delivered is seen as
uncertain by the next boot and gets the marker.
- At boot, a dead owner's flood row that is not yet due is adopted (owner
re-stamped, no attempt spent) instead of being resent early.
- pending_flood_retries() lists this process's waiting flood rows per adapter
identity with the earliest deadline.
Runner (gateway/run_startup.py):
- _schedule_flood_redelivery arms one timer per adapter identity that runs
the existing runtime sweep after the wait (capped at 15 minutes per sleep;
the row's deadline, not the timer, decides eligibility, so a capped timer
wakes early, sends nothing, and re-arms for the remainder). The slot stays
occupied until the timer ends and only the running timer may arm its
successor into it, so a refusal during the sweep can never strand the row.
- _arm_flood_timers_for_waiting_rows runs after every redelivery pass (boot
and runtime), covering adopted rows, rows skipped as not yet due, and rows
refused again.
Adapter (gateway/platforms/base.py): _finalize_delivery_obligation arms the
timer on a flood_control failure, best-effort inside the existing try.
Tests: 35 in tests/gateway/test_delivery_ledger_flood_retry.py, with a
controllable clock shared by ledger and runner. Each guard was mutation
tested. Existing ledger, reconnect and redelivery suites (131 tests) pass.
The #102827 corruption is pure zero holes -- frames lost across a WAL
generation. SessionDB.close() produces exactly that when it runs against a
file another live handle is still writing: PRAGMA wal_checkpoint(PASSIVE),
then the connection close that lets SQLite unlink -wal/-shm. The dangerous
event is a physical close overlapping any other live physical lifetime for
the same path, so both sides of it are closed here.
Late write vs. close: a cron watchdog timeout only stops waiting, and
ThreadPoolExecutor.shutdown(wait=False) cannot interrupt a worker already
inside run_conversation. The agent and its registry reference are now held
until that worker's Future completes, so its last frames land before any
checkpoint.
Close vs. open: the per-path barrier now COUNTS admitted teardowns. A path
can own several closes at once -- the current generation's final release and
a retired generation's drain are admitted independently under the registry
lock, and the per-path mutex only serializes teardowns that already entered
it. With one bare event per path, a releasing thread descheduled between
generation removal and the mutex let the next teardown to settle remove and
signal the shared event: close_all() returned over a pending close and
acquire() published a replacement writer on top of a handle still inside
checkpoint/unlink. _TeardownBarrier tracks event + pending count,
_admit_teardown_locked registers each close in the same lock section that
removes the generation, and only the last settled teardown lifts the
barrier. Physical I/O stays outside the registry lock and unrelated paths
still progress independently.
The auto-archive sweep called release_or_close in its finally while the
import was local to a different function, so every eligible sweep raised
NameError, the outer except Exception swallowed it at debug level, and the
borrowed registry reference was never returned -- a holder leak that pins a
retired generation open. The helper is now bound in the calling scope.
Remaining in-process writable SessionDB() call sites (trace upload, the
API-server profile cache, the web-server writable paths, startup schema
reconcile) go through the canonical registry acquire/release_or_close, and
gateway maintenance borrows pinned handles instead of iterating an unpinned
snapshot.
Regressions: overlapping final releases of the current and retired
generations in both orderings with the first paused before the lifecycle
mutex, teardown-error settlement, an unrelated-path control, and refcount
assertions for the auto-archive sweep on success, on failure, across
repeated sweeps and with auto-archive disabled.

A rate-limited error classifies as network above and the retry loop only breaks
on a non-transient, non-rate-limited error, so the fallback-path guard could
never fire. Tests: the classifier delegator's vocabulary tests were a
change-detector; two rate-limit loop tests were subsumed by the exhaustion
contract (3 sends, no notice, no fallback).
Review follow-up on the salvaged #100072 flood handling. Honouring retry_after
is right, but sleeping it verbatim in _send_with_retry would pin the send
coroutine for a long penalty (a 97-minute FloodWait once froze inbound on
every platform, #91969 -- the Telegram adapter already fails closed at 5s for
the same reason and hands the wait to this loop). Past 60s the typed failure
goes back to the delivery ledger, which owns redelivery after the cooldown.
The six classifier tests collapse into one parametrized contract.
Flood-capped / rate-limited sends (Telegram FloodWait, Weixin bare RuntimeError)
were not honored as retryable when retry_after was absent, so _send_with_retry
fell through to the truncating plain-text fallback, which re-entered the server
ban and dropped the message tail — silently burning the turn with no delivery.
Three changes to _send_with_retry:
1. Route rate-limit checks through _is_rate_limited_error (single wrapper over
classify_send_error) so rate limits are treated as transient even when the
platform omits retry_after.
2. Reclassify rate-limit per retry attempt, not just the initial send, so the
in-loop break/continue reflects the CURRENT attempt (covers transient->flood
and rate-limited->formatting transitions).
3. Never take the truncating plain-text fallback for a rate-limited send — return
the typed failure so the delivery ledger owns redelivery after the cooldown.
And when retries exhaust on a rate-limited / retry_after-carrying failure,
return BEFORE sending the delivery-failure notice: the notice send would land
inside the same flood penalty and re-enter the ban ([0, 189, 378, 378] -> 3
sends, no 4th). Ordinary exhausted network errors keep the existing notice.
Honors server retry_after (when present) as the backoff delay instead of the
default exponential schedule.
Rebased onto current main (was 5163 commits behind, CONFLICTING) and folded in
reviewer feedback. Regression coverage in tests/gateway/test_send_retry.py:
rate-limit classifier, rate-limited-without-retry_after retries & succeeds,
rate-limited exhaustion returns a typed failure with no fallback and no notice
inside the active flood penalty, and failure-kind transitions between attempts.
GitLab (lib/gitlab/web_hooks.rb, app/services/web_hook_service.rb) sends
webhook-id and webhook-timestamp on EVERY delivery and adds webhook-signature
only when a signing token is configured. Selecting the HMAC path on any
webhook-* header would 401 every legacy X-Gitlab-Token install the moment it
upgrades to GitLab 19, so only the signature header selects the path; id and
timestamp then travel with it and the validator still fails closed when either
is missing. svix-* keeps its existing any-header selection.
Tests trimmed to the invariant bar: one parameterized contract (whsec_ and raw
secrets accept; wrong secret, tampered body and stale timestamp reject) plus the
GitLab legacy-token coexistence contract. evals/webhook_auth/standard_webhooks_ab.py
drives a real aiohttp WebhookAdapter on a dedicated loopback port with real
signed requests for before/after evidence.
Related: #47849 (HwangJohn, cherry-picked here), #92024 (earlier salvage of
#47849), #102080 and #103167 (same alias fix, same target).
'Skipping unsafe MEDIA directive path' fired for every non-existent file too, sending
operators down a security-policy rabbit hole for what was a hallucinated or untranslated
path. The warning now names the reason: 'not found on this host' vs 'denied by the
delivery policy'.
`MEDIA:/path` only delivered when the file existed on the gateway host.
With the ssh / modal / daytona / singularity / vercel backends the agent's
artifact sits on another filesystem, so `validate_media_delivery_path`
rejected it and the attachment vanished with a "Skipping unsafe" log line —
the #1 gap for sandboxed deployments.
`BaseEnvironment.fetch_file` pulls a regular file out of any backend over
the exec channel (base64, marker-fenced, size-bounded INSIDE the sandbox so
/dev/zero cannot flood host memory — the same shape image_source already
uses). `gateway/media_fetch.py` runs only when a remote backend is active
and the host lookup failed: the sandbox path is screened against the SAME
denylist as host deliveries, again after `readlink -f`, then copied into
the document cache (an allowlisted root) and validated like any host file.
No new tool; the existing `MEDIA:` tag is the interface.
Salvaged from #68506 by @tokou (design and denylist mirroring); redone on
current main without the send_file tool, the per-backend transports and
the undeliverable-notice plumbing (the #66797 failure notice already covers
that surface).
_kanban_root/_kanban_board_dirs replace the two inline HERMES_KANBAN_HOME + iterdir copies;
the allow side keeps its strict slug/symlink/db filter on top. _sqlite_files also covers
the rollback journal, matching hermes_state_repair's sidecar set.
`MEDIA:~/.hermes/state.db` was deliverable in default mode: the denylist
named individual credential files but not the SQLite stores that hold the
whole cross-session conversation history (and every secret ever pasted
into a chat), nor their WAL/SHM sidecars — whose mtime is always fresh, so
strict mode's recency trust would have handed them over too. Same gap for
legacy `sessions/` transcripts, the copied `browser-profile/` cookie store,
and named-board `kanban/boards/<slug>/kanban.db`, which sits right beside
the board attachments the gateway already allowlists.
Add them to the per-file denylist; the rest of HERMES_HOME (skills/, logs/,
memories/, ad-hoc artifacts) stays deliverable — the whole-tree deny from
#32090/#35939 is still deliberately not reintroduced.
Salvaged from #41071 by @pprism13 (root-level state.db/kanban.db entries);
named-board and sessions/browser-profile coverage added on top.
Cherry-picked from PR #101542 by @sohomsahaun.
Two-step drill-down: provider static_select → model static_select,
with Back/Cancel buttons. Resolves through the same gateway callback
as Discord/Telegram, so persistence and failed-switch rollback
semantics come for free.
Changes:
- send_model_picker() posts Block Kit provider/model picker via chat_postMessage
- _handle_model_picker_action() dispatches provider/model/back/cancel actions
- _model_picker_state bounded dict (cap=100, workspace-scoped keys)
- Expired-state UX: missing state rewrites message to expiry notice
- Failure header: both exception and gateway error-prefix get 'Failed' header
- Index-based option values avoid Slack's 75-char value cap
- 21 tests covering send, action dispatch, gateway integration

Every PLUGIN-COMPAT __getattr__ now calls hermes_cli.plugin_compat.warn_once(facade, name, target) before
resolving, emitting a HermesPluginCompatWarning (FutureWarning) once per process per name: old path, new
path, removal target. Importing a facade for its live API stays silent; only resolving a moved name warns.
COMPAT_MANIFEST.md documents the warning and how to silence it during migration.
Verified the runtime never routes through a pointer: every entry point (run_agent, cli, hermes_cli.main,
gateway.run, tui_gateway.server, web_server, model_tools + tool discovery, hermes_state, cron.scheduler,
browser_tool, mcp_tool, kanban, auth) imports clean and `hermes doctor` runs end to end with the warning
promoted to an error.
Also restores the check_compat_pointers CI step to .github/workflows/lint.yml, which a0be177aac dropped
when the compat layer was regenerated (the lint script itself was present; the workflow step was not).
hermes_cli/plugin_compat.py, tests/test_plugin_compat_warning.py and the two-line insert per facade are
part of the compat layer and go away with it.
Review findings on #102117 (independent reviewer + itsflownium):
* hermes_cli.kanban_db.connect / connect_closing pointed at hermes_cli.projects_db (different DB, no
board= parameter). The compat generator ranked candidate homes by path proximity when a name is
defined in several modules. Now it requires shape compatibility with the BASE definition (same
literal for constants, superset of parameter names for defs) and prefers the facade's own
<stem>_* sibling. Same class fixed for tools.tts_tool.DEFAULT_XAI_BASE_URL (-> tts_tool_providers),
and 17 constants/defs that had been pointed at same-named strangers (Matrix MAX_MESSAGE_LENGTH ->
Signal's 8000, tts MAX_TEXT_LENGTH -> BlueBubbles', honcho/retaindb/supermemory *_SCHEMA -> another
plugin's schema, ...) are now restored from BASE verbatim instead.
* send_yuanbao_direct (restored-def): body called adapter._outbound.send_direct, which HEAD moved to
the sender; rewritten to adapter._outbound.sender.send_direct.
* COMPAT_MANIFEST.md states the scope explicitly: public top-level names only; private names and
test monkeypatch seams are not preserved.
* scripts/check_subprocess_stdin.py: _splat_carries_stdin looked 30 lines ahead in the file text
and was satisfied by an unrelated later stdin=; it now finds the splatted name's definition via AST
and requires stdin inside that expression/body.
Tests: tests/test_compat_manifest_targets.py (pointer identity vs the facade's sibling; kanban
connect(board=) opens a Kanban DB, not projects.db; both FAIL on the previous layer),
test_subprocess_stdin_guard gains the false-negative probe, and the MoA -Q quiet-output contract
tests are back (tests/agent/test_moa_quiet_reference_output.py) against build_moa_facade.
The Sep 2026 decomposition (PR #102117) makes internal import paths a non-API: names now live in
the focused modules that define them. This commit is the ONLY thing keeping the old paths alive,
so external plugins have time to update. It is deliberately a single, unsquashed commit:
git revert <this sha>
removes every shim, stub and manifest at once on the announced date. Nothing in-tree may depend on
these pointers: scripts/check_compat_pointers.py (wired into lint.yml) fails CI if it does.
What it adds (see COMPAT_MANIFEST.md, compat_manifest.json):
- 332 facade modules get one delimited `PLUGIN-COMPAT` block appended at the end of the file
- 1,172 moved names resolved lazily via a module `__getattr__` (PEP 562) — never a top-level import,
so no import cycles; facades that already had `__getattr__` get a chained one
- 592 third-party/stdlib names the old modules used to expose, with their original import statements
- 266 public definitions that had been deleted as unused, restored byte-for-byte from the pre-decomposition
tree (+40 private helpers and 16 imports pulled in only because a restored definition needs them)
- 3 deleted modules recreated as re-export stubs (gateway/startup_watchdog, hermes_cli/observability/
relay_runtime, tools/environments/modal_utils)
- private names (`_x`) get no pointer: they were never API (3,792 skipped)
Verified: all 335 touched modules import under a fresh HERMES_HOME and every manifest name resolves;
the lint reports zero in-tree uses; ruff clean; targeted suites unchanged.
tools/approval.py no longer re-exports sibling names (approval_context/prompt/floors/detection/
human_wait/smart/gateway_wait); it imports only what it uses. Siblings reference sibling-defined
names directly (module-attribute reads on tools.approval_context so patching the defining module
still works); only facade-owned state (_lock, _gateway_queues, _permanent_approved, _denied,
_denial_breaker_addendum, _gateway_notify_cb) is still read back through tools.approval.
approval_detection calls its own _command_detection_variants instead of late-binding through the facade.
hermes_state.py: delete every '# noqa: F401 (re-exported...)' import block (hermes_state_common/errors/guard/
readpool/sessions/fts/dbfile/wal/repair/registry + agent.context_compressor _DB_PERSISTED_MARKER_KEY); keep
only the names hermes_state.py itself uses, without noqa.
hermes_state_registry.py: drop get_shared_session_db/release_shared_session_db/close_shared_session_dbs
aliases; every caller (gateway/, tools/, tui_gateway/, cron/, mcp_serve, run_agent, tests) now imports
acquire/release/close_all/release_or_close from hermes_state_registry.
hermes_state_titles.py: drop set_auto_title_if_empty shim (title_generator keeps its getattr fallback).
Re-remove shim-only names restored by 34abf954bd: latest_user_message_row_id (tests call
latest_message_row_id(key, role='user'); role-targeting assertions kept) and get_session_activity (tests
build the snapshot via agent.session_activity.build_activity_snapshot over db.get_session(sid)).
hermes_state_wal._log_once resolves its dedupe sets as module globals instead of via hermes_state;
hermes_state_repair helpers call module globals directly (tests patch hermes_state_repair.<name>).
Frozen updater surface untouched (update_cmd_maint imports only SessionDB from hermes_state).
Re-applies the gateway compat removal byte-for-byte; see 92d0bd0d73 for the
full inventory (30 re-exports/aliases + 2 shim modules dropped, 3 shim-only
names re-removed, 24 callers + 34 test files repointed). No new changes.
For each issue anchor present in BASE 63279301bc non-test .py and absent on HEAD, the BASE comment/docstring block was re-attached at the HEAD location of the code it explained (matched by the distinctive code line / enclosing def). Sentences already covered by an existing HEAD comment were deduped; the issue number always survives. Insert-only: no code lines changed.
